Adding More Ground Clearance on a tandem Axle Jayco Tent Trailer
Question:
Can you recommend any advice on getting more clearance for this tent trailer it has tandem wheels

Expert Reply:
It sounds like you want more ground clearance for your Jayco trailer. Using larger tires could work but then you might run into clearance issues between the larger tires and the trailer frame or body. I would need to know the tire size you have now and the center to center distance between the axles to recommend larger tires.
There is another option. If your trailer uses double-eye leaf spring suspension and the axles are currently mounted on top of the leaf spring stacks then you could use an over under conversion kit to move the leaf spring stacks to the tops of the axles. For 2-3/8 inch round axles use # K71-384-00. For 3 inch diameter round axles use # K71-385-00. You will need one kit for each axle.
