Wiring Trailer Lights to a Trailer that have a White, Black and Yellow Wire

Question:

Hi, I have the four way lights strung on each side of the trailer. My lights have a white wire, black wire for the side marker and a yellow wire. I have my brown and yellow down left side and green and brown on right side. I am having trouble getting the lights to work correctly. Or at least I dont think it is right. The only way I can get them to work correctly, is to put the brown, yellow and black together on each side. I was going to try the white wire and running brown wire together tomorrow to see if it would work correctly. Any suggestions?

To wire up your trailers lights to 4-way wiring should be pretty easy, but you will need to determine the functions of each of the trailer lights. The white wire SHOULD be a ground, the black sounds like it's the running light circuit and the yellow wire is the turn signal/brake light.

On your trailer's wiring the brown should be running light, the white should be ground, the yellow left turn/stop, and green right turn/stop. You would just need to wire according to that and it should work just fine.

I attached a diagram and a help article for you to check out that should be helpful.
