Installing a Brake Controller on a 2003 Toyota Tacoma with Factory 4-Way Trailer Connector
Question:
i have a prerunner tow package with a factory 4 pin connector. is there a factory plug in the kickplate and what colors identify it. i would like to use the 3040 p adapter, if only to avoid piercing the brake wire. i plan on getting brake controller tk90160 and etbc7 wiring as needed.

Expert Reply:
A brake controller such as # TK90160 will have to be hardwired into your 2003 Toyota Tacoma since there isn't a place to plug into on the truck or dedicated wiring for a brake controller. Since you already have a factory 4-Way all you will need to complete the installation is the brake controller itself and installation kit # ETBC7. I have included links that show and explain the ETBC7 installation for you.
