Recommended Bike Carrier To Use Between RV And Towed Vehicle

Question:

I will be using Blue Ox Avail BX 7420 tow bar and BX 2198 baseplate to tow Ford Explorer Sport Trac behind a 2007 Fleetwood Expedition Is there a recommended 2 position bike rack that can fit between?

In order to be able to carry bikes between your towed vehicle and the RV you will first need a dual receiver for your trailer hitch.

I recommend the Curt Dual 2 inch Receiver Tube Adapter, part # D-192. the bottom receiver is used for the tow bar and the upper receiver has a 2 inch receiver for the bike carrier.

Bike carriers need to be RV rated because they are built to take on the added stress at the rear of the RV or motorhome. The carrier I recommend is the Swagman Original, part # S64152-2. This is a 3 bike carrier, but placing two bikes on it will give you a little more room between them.

If you are planning on carrying bikes with alternative frames like kids bikes or women's bikes I recommend using an adapter bar like part # 64005. This attaches between the seat post and the handlebar stem and allows the bike to be carried more level in the carrier while providing additional ground clearance. I have attached a product review video for this adapter bar.

Another nice bike carrier for the back of RVs is the Let's Go Aero NEO2, part # B01748. This is a motorhome Rated rack that allows for two bikes to be carried.

When you decide to use any accessory between your RV and your towed vehicle you will need to make sure you have both the clearance and also make sure you use caution when executing sharp turns.
