Why does the little lights on my electric trailer jack stay on when jack is not in use ?

The LED lights on the # LC285318 should not stay on all the time. On the front of the jack there is an on/off switch that is used just for the lights. Make sure that switch is flipped to the off position when the lights are not needed. The other switch is for retracting and extending the jack.

I called my contact at Lippert and they told me that if the switch is in the off position and the lights remain on, you may have a problem with a short in the switch, or a short in the circuit board. You also want to make sure the wiring for the jack has been connected properly.

You did not say if this is a new jack or if it has been installed for a bit and has started having problems. If it is a new installation I recommend making sure that the switch does operate the lights, and that the wiring is correct.

Since this is a brand new jack you shouldn't be experiencing problems. I spoke with my contact at Lippert who said he hasn't heard of this being a very common issue and your best bet is a bad ground or a new switch. It is also…
