Hi, I have a 2014 Haulmark Passport 6x12 trailer w/ single axle. I believe its a Dexter 3500 lb axle, but Im not sure. Do you sell a complete kit to add trailer brakes? Thanks!

A complete kit for electric brakes isn't available, but we can certainly get you the parts you're needing. I'll link you to our FAQ article that explains what's needed to add electric brakes to your axle. I don't have a reference that would tell me exactly which axle is being used on your trailer, but it's pretty easy to figure everything out.

The first thing you'll need to do is check your existing axles for brake mounting flanges as shown in the article. If you don't have the flanges, you can have them added, but this kind of welding skill isn't common, certainly not something the average shade-tree mechanic could successfully complete. The flanges would need to be perfectly square and concentric. In many cases, it's simpler and less expensive to just replace the axle. We offer a few replacement axles, to see if anything we offer would work, you'll need to reply with the hub face to hub face distance and spring center to spring center dimension of your existing axle, as shown in the diagram I've provided.

A 3500 lb axle will typically use a 10 x 2-1/4 inch hub/drum with a 5 on 4-1/2 inch bolt pattern with a # L68149 inner and a # L44649 outer wheel bearing. If that's the case, you could use the # AKHD-545-35-K for standard spindles or # AKHD-545-35-EZ-K for EZ Lube spindles. The EZ lube spindles are easy to discern because they'll have a zerk fitting on the end of the spindle. With these hub drums, you'd want to use the # AKEBRK-35L-SA (left hand) and # AKEBRK-35R-SA (right hand) self adjusting brake assemblies.

You'd then need to wire the trailer, using a 7-way trailer connector like part # H20044 (be sure to pay attention to the wire color codes on the product description page) and a junction box like # 38656. You'll also need a length of 10 gauge brake wire, part # 10-1-1 and some ring terminals. A breakaway system like # 50-85-315 would be a good idea as well.

If your wheel bearings and bolt pattern are different, please let me now what they are and I'd be happy to make some alternate suggestions.
