Tire Chains for 2015 Subaru XV Crosstrek with 225/55-17 Tires

Hi there. Im looking for cables/chains for my 2015 Subaru Crosstrek tire size 225/55 - 17. Subaru apparently doesnt approve most chains, but say that some traction device that will handle limited clearance is okay. Do you have any recommendations. Ive heard that the Thule CG-9 might work. Would appreciate any direction. Thank you.

Auto makers get the final word when it comes to using tire chains on their vehicles. The best place to start your review is your Crosstrek owner's manual. I reviewed an online version and in section 8-11 the manual states that tire chains cannot be used on the XV Crosstrek due to limited clearance between the tires and the vehicle body. It further states that special low-profile S-Class traction devices can be used on the front tires only when those tires are compatible with a specific chain.

Thule's K-Summit Premium Self-Tensioning Snow Tire Chains # TH02230K44 are S-Class chains that are compatible with your tire size. They require zero internal clearance.

From my research your 2014 Subaru XV Crosstrek has 225/55-17 size tires from the factory. If you have a different tire size let me know. I also checked out your owner's manual and it recommends not using tire chains unless you're required to.…
