Tire Chain Recommendation for 2013 Subaru XV Crosstrek
Question:
What size chains fit my 2013 Crosstrek Premium? Which wheels do they go on? thanks!

The stock tire on your 2013 Subaru XV Crosstrek is 225/55-17 and for this size we do offer a range of low-profile S-Class chains that are designed specifically for passenger cars that may have limited clearance in the wheel wells. I reviewed an online edition of the manual for your car and it indicates in section 8-11 that S-Class chains can be used within the speed rating set by the chain maker; this is typically 30-35 mph. Your Subaru owner's manual will indicate if S-Class chains are required and which axles they can be used on.
The linked page will show you all S-Class tire chains that fit your tires. These range from cost-effective basic cable types like Glacier # PW1038 up to much more effective chain types like the Thule Diamond Pattern D Link # TH00023103 that feature manganese nickel alloy steel construction, protection from scratches for your wheels, automatic tensioning and quick-release. These features will make actual use of the chains far easier. A lower-cost option that is still better than cables is Thule's # TH00023103.
If you really need chains where you drive I urge you to spend the bit extra to get a set of chains with these features. Tire chains that are tough to install and use will tend to sit in your cargo area and they'll do you no good in there.
