Replacement Ratcheting Wheel Hook for Yakima HoldUp Bike Carriers
Question:
It appears that this art is placed by removing the cap on the arm, then sliding the old hook off and sliding the new hook on. If that is accurate, does this part come with a replacement cap,or can it be removed without damaging it? Is there some trick to getting it off intact?

I spoke to my contact at Yakima and he told me that the end cap is held on by the locking pin. There is a “C-Clip” on the outside of the pin, use a small flat bladed screw driver to remove the clip from the pin. Need to be careful not to lose the clip as it will want to pop off the pin. Once the clip is removed the pin slides out and the cap will come off and the hook can then be removed from the arm.
Just follow the process in reverse to re-install the hook, cap, and pin. Clip will be pushed back over the top of the pin, there is a groove it sits in. Using a larger flat bladed screw driver and pushing down the clip from the top should seat it back in place.
