Installing 4-way Round Connector on Tow Vehicle
Question:
I need to install the 6 diode kit in a 1998 Toyota Rav4 two door. I dont like the flat 4 wire connectors. The flat wire looks sloppy hanging down, I want a more finished look. What do I need to replace the flat connector at the front of the toad with a round connector, and how is it wired, to use the RoadMaster 4-Wire Straight Cord Kit RM-98164 and RoadMaster Bent Electrical Socket Bracket RM-910030-5. The RV has both 4 and 7 wire round connectors installed.

If the 4-way on your RV is a round socket, you will need to wire the Roadmaster 4-Wire Straight Cord Kit # RM-98164 to match the wiring on your RV function for function. Since RVs do not commonly come with 4-way round connectors, it is hard to say how the 4-way is wired. You can use a circuit tester like # PTW2993 to test for the wire's functions.
If the 4-way on the RV is not round, I recommend using the Hopkins Endurance Flex-Coil Trailer Connector Adapter # HM47043. This wiring extension is already pre-wired to connect a 4-way round to a 7-way blade style connector. With this wiring extension, you will use the 7-way connector on the RV and install a 4-way round socket, like # PK11410, on your towed vehicle. To install the # PK11410 you will want to cut off the 4-way flat connector. Using these components will only require you to wire one trailer connector.
I have attached an installation video of the # PK11410 4-way round connector for you to see how it installs. When looking at the back of the connector where you will connect the wires, the green, right turn and brake wire will connect at the top left. The yellow, left turn and brake wire will connect at the top right. The brown taillight wire connects at the bottom left, and the white ground wire connects at the bottom right.
