Trailer Hitch Availability for 2007 Subaru Outback XT 2.5i Wagon

Question:

Hi, Were looking to buy another hitch from you, this time for a 2007 Subaru Outback XT 2.5i Wagon. I can see that there are different hitches for the Sport model but I dont know which one that refers to in 2007, the word Sport wasnt associated with any of the Outback Wagon models. Please advise whether our XT 2.5i Wagon is a Sport or not? Do we just count the tailpipes to know?. Any thoughts about what to do with a used hitch we can no longer use? Were pulling the Draw Tite 36336 off of a 2000 Toyota Solara. Thanks.

The Subaru Outback Sport featured an off-road appearance package, and a slightly raised suspension. Subaru discontinued the Outback Sport nameplate in 2011.

If your Outback has the off-road appearance package and a single exhaust we offer one hitch, the light-duty Curt Class I # C11497 which has a 1-1/4-inch receiver opening. If you do not have the Sport edition you can choose from 1-1/4-inch Class II and 2-inch Class III hitches for your wagon. The linked page will show you all of these hitches.

For the best compatibility with a range of hitch-mount accessories I suggest the Draw-Tite Class III hitch # 75560. I have linked the written instructions as well as an installation video. If you're doing the install yourself you can refer to the instructions for a listing of the tools required, which include a torque wrench like # ALL944001.

If you're planning to tow you'll also need a wiring harness # 118461, a ball mount # AMSC2, hitch lock # e98880 and a hitch ball, either 1-7/8-inch # 19260 or 2-inch # 63845.

If you're going to use hitch mount accessories like bike or cargo carriers you'll want to be sure to choose compatible Class III carriers, such as those shown on the links provided for you.

If you sell your old hitch you'll want to discard the hardware since it is intended for only one use. We do offer replacement hitch hardware kits (that the new owner can use), part # RHK. Enter that part in our search box and then enter the brand and part number of the hitch to order the correct hardware kit.
