I was trying to attach these racks and the front piece that attaches to the rail are have different holes spacing. should both the front pieces for the left and right side be exactly the same piece?

The brackets for the Rhino-Rack RSP Series Roof Rack, # RRRVP27, are going to be the same for the left and right sides but the brackets are different front and back. I have attached a picture showing the two different brackets.
