Expert Reply:

The standard hitch height that most of the rental trailers are designed for is 17 inches. That will allow the trailer to be towed at the correct level.

The hitch height of 18 inches on your 2010 Toyota Highlander is within the standard hitch height. So, if you have a 2-inch receiver the Curt Ball Mount, # C45010, with the 3/4 inch rise and 2 inch drop will work on the majority of the rental trailers.

You will also need a Tow Ready Hitch Ball, # 19247, which is a 2 inch ball. The 2 inch ball is the most popular size coupler on rental trailers. Also you will need a Pin and Clip, # PC3.

We do have the Ball Mount Kit, # 989900, which has two of the most popular ball mounts. The # 2923 that I already mentioned and the Draw-Tite Ball Mount, # 2753, which has a 2-3/4 inch rise and 4 inch drop. Also included are two hitch balls, a 1-7/8 inch ball and a 2 inch ball, along with a pin and clip and a bag to carry everything in.

If you are going to be towing a variety of trailers with different hitch heights and needing a more versatile ball mount you can do the Convert-a-Ball Adjustable Ball Mount , # TK5007, which can be adjusted to several different ball heights. For this ball mount you would also need the same 2 inch hitch ball and pin and clip as mentioned before.
