If you tested the trailer lights and everything is working, then the problem is from the 6-Way connector back to the truck.
You will want to use a circuit tester like, # PTW2993, to test the 7-Way connector attached to the 2003 Dodge Ram. First test the pin on the connector that would be the running lights and see if you have power coming out of the connector. If there is no power coming out, then test the wire on the back of the connector that is for the running lights to see if you have power going into the connector. If there is no power going into the connector, then check the fuse in the fuse box. The fuse box is located under the hood and either the lid on the fuse box or the owner's manual will show the location of the fuse you will need to replace.
If there is power going into the connector and not coming out then you will want to check the connections inside the connector to make sure they are attached properly. If the connections are good then it might be a faulty 7-Way connector.
A new connector you could use is the Hopkins 7-Way and 4-Way Replacement Connector for Dodge OEM Style Plugs, # 42145, which will give you a 7-Way and a 4-Way on the back of your truck. It plugs into the Dodge OEM wiring like the factory connector.
You might test the 7-Way to 6-Pin Adapter also to see that the power is going in and test that the power is going out to make sure the adapter you are using is working. If you need a adapter I have the Hopkins Adapter 7 Pole to 6 Pole and 4 Pole with Cover, # 47565.
You should also double check the grounding on the trailer again to make sure you are getting a good metal to metal contact at the trailer lights where they attach to the trailer and the license plate light ground is making a good connection.
