What Tie Downs O-Track Or E-Track For Enclosed Trailer Hauling Harley Bagger

Question:

Getting ready to install tie downs in an enclosed trailer. Is O-Track comparable to e-track as far as load capacity? Which would be more desirable for tying down a Harley Bagger?

Any of the trailer cargo control systems are only going to be as strong as what surface they are anchored to and how they are attached to that surface.

The Erickson O-Track Cargo Control, # EM59133 mounts by drilling holes through the trailer floor or walls and attaching to the backing plate on the other side of the floor or wall to give it the strength. The capacity per track is 733 lbs straight pull or 583 lbs side pull. Two tracks with 4 anchors would give you almost 1500 lbs of capacity straight pull or a bit more than 1100 lbs side pull.

The E-Track - 5 foot Horizontal, # E19148, and the E-Track - 4 foot Vertical, # E19146, is installed with screws or rivets in the mounting holes and does need to be installed to the wall studs or floor studs of the trailer to work properly. The more fasteners attaching it to the trailer walls or floor, the better. It has a 6,000 lbs. capacity and a working load limit of 2,000 lbs. It also gives more adjustable tie down points than the AnchorTrax. It has a dizzying array of different accessories that will hook to the track and tie down the item.

So for the Harley Bagger the E-Track would work fine and also give you more tie down points if you carried other items in your trailer. If attached correctly to the trailer it would also give more working load limit. Because of this and the greater flexibility, I'd recommend going with the E-track and tie down straps like # SLLS28RER.

I am sending a video link on the E-Track system.
