Mounting E-Track to Thin Plywood Walls in Enclosed Trailer

Question:

Purchased a used enclosed 7x16 cargo trailer. It has 3/4 inch plywood floor, but the walls are less than 1/2 inch maybe a 1/4. I want to install something to allow me to secure stacked boxed items securely boxed glass items to the walls, but do not understand videos that say add 3/4 inch strips to secure the hardware. How will the thin walls support the 3/4 inch strip as well as anything attached to it without pulling out a section of wall especially when cargo weight is added?

Helpful Expert Reply:

With plywood walls that are as thin as yours, it's possible that they may not support what you are looking to do. The only way you will be able to utilize the Erickson Horizontal E-Track # EM59150 (2 feet) or # E19148 (5 feet) is by installing it onto the studs of the walls as much as you can. You'd need to find the studs supporting your trailer's plywood walls, and attach the e-track to the studs on the walls. That will be the only way to truly support the tracks on plywood walls as thin as yours.

I've added a link to our entire selection of e-track for you to check out as well.
