How to Mount a Womans Style Bike Frame on a Thule Hitching Post 4 Bike Rack TH934XTR

Question:

I viewed the feature video for the TH956 and it showed one male bike being mounted. Is this product designed for womans bikes? The woman frames/bars are different than the mens and prior to any purchase, Id need some clarification. If the TH956 can support 4 bikes, can it support 2 mens and 2 womens bikes? If so, how? Or is there another model/product you can suggest...Thx.

A woman's bike frame that lacks a horizontal top frame tube (as is found on most men's bikes) can be mounted on a hanging style hitch bike rack like the Thule Hitching Post 4 Bike Rack # TH934XTR by using a bike adapter bar.

A bike adapter bar simply connects between the seat and handlebar posts to provide a substitute for the absent frame tube. This keep such bikes level on the carrier for safe ground clearance. In some individual cases you may be able to mount a certain woman's bike on a certain bike rack without an adapter bar but this usually results in one of the wheels hanging down too close to the ground.

We offer adapter bars from many brands and these vary slightly in their length adjustment range.
You can click on the link provided to see all bars and the length range for each.

You can use any brand bar on any bike and bike rack but the best way to select one is to choose the bar whose minimum length range will work for you. For example, the Swagman Easy-Out # 64005 can extend from 16- to 29-1/2-inches; the Yakima Tube Top # Y02531 from 14-1/2- to 31-1/2-inches. Choose the one whose minimum length is closest to your requirement.
