How to Mount Womens Bikes on Thule Hitching Post Pro TH934XTR Hanging Style Hitch Bike Rack

Question:

I need a folding tilting hitch for a 2012 Toyota Highlander. I will tow no more than 2 ladies bikes. Could you please tell me what I need? I just purchased a hitch for my Highlander. I have looked at the bike rack below, but it looks like it is for mens bikes. Thank you. Some women's bikes that do not have a top horizontal frame tube, the step-thru frame type, can be a challenge to fit on certain bike racks.

The excellent Thule Hitching Post Pro # TH934XTR hanging style rack can still be used with women's bikes simply by installing an adapter bar like # UB01 or # 64005 on each bike. The adapter connects to the seat and handlebar posts to provide the equivalent of a top frame tube to allow installation on a hanging-style bike rack.

Since you only need to transport 2 bikes I suggest you consider the Curt # C18085 2-bike wheel-mount hanging style rack. This rack suspends the bikes by their wheels, not by their frames, so no adapter is needed. The Curt is reasonably inexpensive, lightweight, fits both 1-1/4-inch and 2-inch hitches and it offers a substantial 45-lbs-per-bike weight capacity.

You can use hitch lock # e98879 to secure the rack to your hitch, cable lock # e98891 to lock the bikes.
