5th Wheel Sidewinder Use on 2012 Dodge Ram 2500 4WD with Rambox Feature
Question:
I have been trying for a week to figure out if the sidewinder hitch would work to tow 5th wheel trailer with Dodge 2500 with ram boxs? And if so what hitch would you recomm? Have you had alot of success with customers doing this..thank you.

The issue with the Rambox feature is that the manufacturers of 5th wheel hitches and installation kits have not tested for fit on these models. The problem is the bed is more narrow on models that have the Rambox feature and this reduces turning clearance.
We have heard from customers who have installed 5th wheel hitches in Rambox models. But they have to use Sidewinder replacement pin boxes to move the trailer pivot point back so as not to hit the stock pin box against the bed sides. I have linked the Sidewinder information page to the right.
If you use a Sidewinder you will need a fixed hitch, not a slider, or at least you will need to keep your sliding hitch always locked in the forward position. The slider cannot ever be used with a Sidewinder. The linked article will help you determine if there is a Sidewinder replacement for your pin box.
