Troubleshooting Brake Controller that Stopped Working after Rewiring 7-Way
Question:
I had to re wire my trailer to truck it has 6 wires all attached to the outside connecters , I do not use the middle post on the 7 way plug. My problem is that all the lights work, the controller reads when you press the brakes but I have no brakes on the trailer. Also when I turn my lights on for the truck the controller goes to O.C. mode no trailer attached . I replaced the wires exactly as they were connected on the old plug what is my problem. Thanks, Hope you can help

The problem you have is somewhere in the recent rewiring of your trailer connector. It sounds like there is at least one short on the wiring that is preventing the brake output circuit from functioning. Check to see if the running light circuit is possible shorting out to the brake output circuit. I attached a diagram that shows how 7-way should get wire that may be helpful as well.
I also attached a help article on brake controller troubleshooting as well.
