Fifth Wheel Hitch Recommendation for a 2014 Ram with Hitch Prep Package

Question:

I have a 2014 Dodge diesel 6.7 letter 3500 with an 8 ft. box. Additionally, I would like to tow my 40 ft. KZ Escalade 5th wheel. I will be pulling the 5th wheel about 1,500 miles/yr. The Dodge has a factory built-in goose neck ball which can be removed when needed. My question is this: Should I convert the 5th wheel hitch to a goose neck? I am looking for some pro and cons. Hope to hear from you soon.

If you have a Mopar gooseneck hitch installed in your truck then that would indicate that you have the factory fifth wheel rail kit which includes pucks to allow a fifth wheel hitch to install. You should see 4 plugs or pucks in the bed of your truck around the ball of your gooseneck hitch that would be used for installation of the fifth wheel hitch.

Which in that case all you would need is the Reese hitch part # RP30918 that would fit in the pucks of your truck. This is an excellent hitch that has one of the nicest jaw systems around that would work well for you and the amount of towing miles you plan on putting on your truck. The pros to this is that you would have the best fifth wheel towing and gooseneck towing setup around. Adapters are great and have their place, but they are not an ideal solution. The con to this would be the additional cost.

Check out the review video I attached for more info as well.
