Trailer Hitch for a 2015 Mercedes GLA 250 to Carry a 235 Pound Motorcycle
Question:
Hi, based on the tongue weight listed here it looks like I can install a motorcycle hitch carrier and bring my 235 lb KTM 350 EXC motorcycle with me on the back of this CUV. Can someone confirm that this should work fine on the GLA 250? thanks

There are a couple of things you will want to check first before attempting to carry the motorcycle on your 2015 Mercedes GLA 250. First, consult the vehicle owners manual to determine the tongue weight capacity of the vehicle. If it is lower than the tongue weight capacity of the hitch then you must go by the lower rating.
So let's say that the vehicle tongue weight capacity is 350 pounds just like the hitch # C13197. That means the combined weight of the carrier and the motorcycle cannot exceed 350 pounds. Also, you will need to use stabilization strap # 18050 per Curt's warranty requirements.
The bike you said weighs 235 pounds. That means the carrier you use would have to weigh less than 115 pounds. The etrailer Motorcycle Carrier w/ Ramp for 2" Hitch - 76" Long - Steel - 500 lb capacity, # e98873 would work great for you since weighs 58 pounds. Your motorcycle weight of 235 pounds plus the 58 pounds of the carrier would total 293 pounda and it would be well under your 350 pound tongue weight capacity on the hitch. This carrier is rated for up to 500 pounds of motorcycle, so you are great there. This is a perfect option for a hitch mounted carrier.
