Hitch and Bike Rack Fits on 2009 Honda CR-V for Transporting 2 Hybrid Bikes
Question:
Hi I was going to get the swagman XTC-2 for my 2009 honda CRV The honda store will put on their factory model hitch for me which they said was a Class 1. Will that work for a two bike hitch and is this bike rack good for 2 hybrid bikes ? If not could you recommend a model that is conveniant in terms of allowing me to get the trunck open easily? Thanks

Your 2009 Honda CR-V can be fitted with either a light-duty 1-1/4-inch Class I hitch like Draw-Tite # 24792 or a heavier-duty 2-inch Class III hitch like # 75547.
The Swagman XTC-2 2-bike platform style rack # S64670 that you referenced will work with either of these two types of hitch. This rack has a 35-lbs-per-bike weight capacity and works with wheelbases up to 66-inches (as measured from the two tires' contact points when resting on the ground). I have linked a video showing this rack in use on your same year/make/model car.
Generally I recommend to customers that they go for the higher capacity hitch when there is a choice. A 2-inch hitch can be used with many more accessory products - such as cargo carriers - and will also provide a better safety margin for any application. The installation process is essentially the same whether the hitch is a Class I or a Class III and the additional cost is not too great. I recommend you go for the # 87440 from Hidden Hitch for both its extra capacity and broader compatibility with a range of hitch-mount items. An install video is linked for you as well as two helpful articles.
