Installation Problem with Dual Cam Sway Control on Reese Strait-Line Weight Distribution

Question:

Good morning, I recently purchased a Reese RP66084 hitch and had small problem. Per instructions to attach the sway control to frame box frame it had me drill 11/16inch holes for mounting with, the problem is when you use 11/16inch the hole is the same size and will not lock in place. Not sure if sleeve was wrong size the teeth on were very fine. This was done in steps as to make sure holes were not uneven, as result I used another method drill completely through both sides of frame I believe this makes a better attachment to frame. As far as every thing else all went good very nice set-up. I am also going to email Reese about problem.

I spoke with my contact at Reese and he said they have not had any reported issues that the rivet nuts included with the Dual Cam sway control were too small. Just to be sure, you can check the knurls of the nut with a dial caliper to make sure they are slightly larger than 11/16 of an inch, or 0.6875 inches if you use a digital caliper.

Your solution is the exact same solution that Reese recommends in this situation. Drill completely through the frame and run bolts to the opposite side. Be sure the bolts you are using are at least Grade 5 because the frame brackets will be under stress when towing.
