If you are looking to order a new axle for your 5 foot wide trailer you will need to determine what the hub face to hub face dimension you would need to clear your trailer that is 5 feet (60 inches) wide.
You will also need to know the width of your wheels/tires. You will take the figure and divide by half as trailer wheels have a zero offset which means exactly 50 percent of the tire width will be on either side of the hub face. You will want to have a couple inches of clearance between the wheel and the frame of your trailer so you will want to take 4 inches plus the half the width of your wheel/tire and add that to 60 inches and that would be the hub face to hub face axle dimension you would need.
