Transmission and Power Steering Cooler for 2008 Honda Odyssey
Question:
Hi I bought my trailer hitch and accesories at e-trailer but forgot to include the transmission cooler. My question is,do I really need the cooler for my odyssey if I only need to tow a 12 ft tent trailer ? and, if I need, its not hard for a DIY like me? Thank you very much.

Honda states in the owner's manual for your Odyssey that the vehicle should be equipped with a power steering and a transmission cooler before using it for towing. Whether you choose to follow that advice is entirely up to you, but opting for the coolers is some very inexpensive insurance that will protect the transmission and steering systems on your Odyssey.
The Derale # D13502 would be an excellent choice for a transmission cooler. I've linked you to an install video showing a cooler that's just a bit larger being installed on an Odyssey of the same generation as yours. The install procedure shown in the vehicle should be identical to that of your van. The video should give you a good idea of what the install would involve, and whether it's something you'd feel comfortable tackling yourself. For a power steering cooler, use part # D13213.
I've also linked you to some FAQ articles that contain more information about transmission coolers.
