Recommended Replacement ST215/75R-14 Tires for Boat Trailer
Question:
I want to replace my boat trailer tires, ST215/75R14 load range C with LT tires. What size tire should I use and do you have that size available?

Helpful Expert Reply:
The 'LT' would indicate a tire for a light truck.
'ST' or Special Trailer tires are manufactured differently from tires for passenger vehicles. The tire sidewalls will be thicker and can typically handle heavier loads and higher pressures. Therefore, we don't recommend using LT tires on a trailer.
For a ST215/75R-14 tire in a load range C, I'd recommend part # AM10229. For a higher D load range tire, go with the Taskmaster # TTWTRTM2157514D, which provides a 2200 lb capacity at 65 psi. Keep in mind that going with a higher rated tire won't increase the weight bearing capability of your trailer. You'll still be limited by the lowest rated component on your trailer.
