Recommended Trailer Hitch for a 2011 Honda Accord 4 Door Sedan
Question:
I want to get my mother a hitch mounted bike rack for her 2011 Honda Accord 4 door. What would you recommend for a hitch mount? Do I need additional pieces besides just the mounting piece? She wont be towing anything. I am the least handy person in the world with cars, so I will probably bring it to a professional to have it installed, although my husband thinks he can do anything after watching u-tube.

All the hitches available for your 2011 Honda Accord 4-Door Sedan are a Class I 1-1/4 inch size. A Class I hitch will only accept Class I rated accessories, like bike racks if your mother is interested in them. I am including a link to a FAQ page on hitch sizes and different class ratings. It will describe the difference in the Class I rated hitch.
The hitch I recommend is the Curt Class I 1-1/4 Inch Hitch, part # C11496. This hitch does not include the ball mount, which is used for towing, so it would save you some money.
If you need a hitch bike rack to fit the above hitch I recommend the Swagman XTC-2 Platform Style Bike Rack, part # S64670 , or the Swagman Trailhead 2 Hanging Bike Rack, part # S63360 . Both of these bike racks will fit your Class I hitch. These are two of our most popular 2 bike racks that we carry and they are two different designs to let you choose the style you like the best. Most customers find platform style bike racks easier to load and unload.
I am including links to video reviews on both of the bike racks.
