Identifying Replacement Bearings, Races and Seals for Trailer Spindle on 3500-lb Axle

Question:

I have a trailer with 3500 lb axles and need to replace the inner and outer bearings and races w/ seal, nut, and carter pin. Using a caliper the outside spindle measures 1.063 to 1.064, the inside 1.373 to 1.379 inches. These are spindle ODs The seal measures 2.567 OD, 1763 ID. They are used on a Dexter 10inch drum with the number 8-249 stamped on the outside. I dont know the spindle #. What bearing kit do I need? The cap measures 2inch OD

The most sure method of identifying replacement bearings and seals is to find the original items' part numbers. The appearance of these reference numbers is shown in the linked photo, along with the points on the spindle to measure (as you did) to find the dimensions that will be needed if the part numbers cannot be confirmed.

If you can find the part numbers you can search for those directly using our search box. If you cannot and need to find bearings by measurement you can use the linked page which shows all bearings for 3500-lb axles. In the margin are filters you can use to find bearings with the same dimensions as yours.

Bearing # L44649 has an inner diameter of 1.063-inches and works with race # L44610. Bearing # L68149 has an inner diameter of 1.378-inches and works with race # L68111. Based on your information it looks like the kit you referenced, part # BK2-100, is indeed correct. This kit includes a grease seal with the appropriate 2.565 outer diameter you need.
