I'm guessing my use of the hardware hasn't been used fore anything like this so I'm sharing pics and a brief description;

Bolt-On Zinc Latch
Standard 55 gallon barrels don't have lids available that allow them to be used for trash barrels. So I've retro-fitted these commercial dome trash lids using your Bolt-on Zinc Latches.
I've mounted brackets on either side of the barrel (3) to barely protrude thru the top of the lid once it's placed on the barrel; one side (6) allows a medium lock to secure the lid to the barrel. The opposite side doesn't have a lock on the outside, but does have your latch (2 & 5) affixed to the inside of the lid. Once the bolt is engaged, it goes thru the bracket and side wall of the barrel (1 & 4).
Originally, I wanted your latches used on either side of the barrel and not fuss with a lock at all. However, the lid doesn't have enough room on the back side to secure your latch to. And being placed in common areas where children play, a visible lock may go a long way deter their curiosity. I have 4 barrels like this in our HOA's neighborhood. So far, I think this design will work very well.
These are very heavy duty latches and have held up to a lot of abuse, I actually bought two sets and use one set on a barn door with flawless operation!!!
Heavy Duty Spring Latch works perfectly and secures rear trailer door for other door to lock to. Very happy with performance and quality.
Purchased just for the large pin as these brackets are welded to my trailer from the factory. They only last a few years for me before breaking at the hole for the small pin. It’s easy to push out the small pin with channel locks and remove the large pin. Then I just pop them into the old brackets and replace the small pin.

I've purchased a Polaris ranger that had an enclosure but no doors. I fabricated doors and needed a closure. The SL7 16 was just what I needed. I have had to bevel of the leading edge of the bolt so that when I close the doors, they would latch into a hole that I drilled. I had to make an adaption using a ready people to go through the loop and stick through the doors so I could open it from the outside. It turned out excellent ! Thanks again for supplying a great product.

Exactly what I needed to complete the tailgate on my rebuild project converting old boat trailer to heavy duty utility trailer.
These spring latches were also used on my 1976 Fairmont MT19 railroad motor car. They work beautifully to allow the rear body panels to open or close. They are easy to operate and heavy duty to last a lifetime.
These spring latches are well-made. Pleased to find that they can be locked open while closin gate.
