Having a propane gas leak in your RV is a scary situation that you don't want to even think about let alone experience. But this detector will give you peace of mind knowing that if there are dangerous levels of propane, it'll quickly and accurately warn you and your family so you can get out of the RV and into fresh air.

Hard-to-Miss Visual and Audible Cues

When propane gas is detected, the red LED will come on, and the horn will be constant. And because the sensor is highly selective, it's designed to only sound the alarm for lethal propane gas, reducing the number of false alarms that occur in non-threatening scenarios.

It'll also alert you when the battery is low or when the detector has reached the end of its life and needs to be replaced, so you never have to be without protection.

Easy to Test and Silence

RV Safe Propane Detector

To double check that the detector is operating normally, you can easily use the button on the front to test the propane sensor and battery voltage. You should test your detector every time it's taken out of storage and before it's taken out for each camping trip. This button also lets you silence the horn up to 5 minutes during non-life-threatening situations. So, you can turn off that annoying racket in the middle of the night while you're trying to hunt for a new battery.

Surface-Mount, Bolt-On Installation

The 2 included universal mounting brackets allow this detector to replace 90 percent of all OEM surface-mount and flush-mount detectors. This detector can replace most Atwood and Dometic branded detectors, as well as Safe-T-Alert 20 series, 25 series, 30 series, 35 series, 40 series, 45 series, and 65 series detectors.

Because propane gas is heavier than air, it'll settle near the floor, so this detector should be installed 4" to 18" from the floor to accurately detect the presence of gas. Also make sure that the detector is located in an area that isn't near a window or door, behind furniture or drapes, or in a closet. It also shouldn't be installed with 24" near a stove, oven, fridge, or furnace.

The fact that it came with a bracket that is a little bigger than what I started with was helpful. Mounting it was a bit tricky though because the opening was slightly too big. I had to screw the bracket into a thin board inside the opening with the previous screws. Think clamp. Board, wall, bracket, screwed together to clamp the bracket in place. There's an idea there for yet another way to make it easier to mount.

I cut a connector off of the old detector and spliced it to the new one so that I could reuse it. That worked well, with a shrink wrap over the splice.

I tested it once. It seems to work. But ultimately I cannot yet review anything but install and first impressions.

by:

Very straightforward as far as install goes. Disconnect the old and hook up the new. I used wire nut to connect my wires with. Did not use the new cover plates at all was was impressed with the fact they were there if needed.

by:

It's a pleasure to deal with etrailer.com
Seems
like reasonable prices, good selection and good service.
Thank-you very much!

by:

My sales rep was outstanding. She answered my questions, looked up what actual part I needed because I was asking for the wrong item. When I received the part it was exactly what I needed. It’s great to work with a sales representative that knows her stuff.

by:

so far, so good. Flush is better than that white box that stuck out.

by:

Very easy to install even thought it wasn't a direct replacement.

by:

This Propane Detector replaced an old Atwood Protechtor Series 2001 and the larger bezel covered the hole from the old unit. It looks good.

by:

1 year later working like a champ. I made one small modification on one of the tanks by slightly sanding the bottom where the sensor touched the tank. That one sensor was reading zero every so often. The paint on that tank was a little thick. That fixed the issue 100%.

by:

My neighbors had their co2 detector go out at the same time as ours on their camper. They bought a replacement from Amazon, I bought mine from etrailer. They had to buy a new co2 detector this month. Very happy with my selection

by:

Sales Rep Jacob was extremely professional and helpful; delivery of item was timely and installation was a breeze. Our new. Amped van is now protected to alert us to any propane potential hazards. Thank you etrailer!

by:

Better price than RV dealer stores, almost half the price. Great customer service.

by:

Parts are packaged fine and as expected. Shipping a little slow.

by:

What dealings I've had with e-trailer have always been an excellent experience. Fair priced and always shipped asap. Thanks

by:

Working as designed

by:

I needed to replace an existing CCI 7770 propane detector. The folks at etrailer were awesome and told me this would work well in the existing opening.
One of the easiest upgrades I have ever done

by:

E Trailer gave excellent service and it arrived quick and on time.
I haven’t installed it yet so I can’t answer anything about the detector.

by:

Easy to install and attractive.

by:

Propane Gas Detector works great once I installed it. The electrical wires were extremely short for the way my RV is wired, so made it rather difficult to complete the wiring part of the job. But once I got it the detector works great.

by:

This unit much better than original. Flat design and now my big foot does not bump it being low on the deck! Another happy camper! Thanks etrailer!

by:

Good replacement for Atwood detector. Easy install on 2017 Airstream.

by:

Very easy to install. Instructions are clear and test went perfect. Had to install vertically due to the curved wall.

by:

Much slimmer profile than the RV's original unit. Very easy to install.

Still working just fine after 1 year of use!

by:

Easy to install and working great. A good replacement for the Atwood 31013 that came in the RV.

by:

Had to mount it long side up to fit existing hole, but it works well.

by:

Ordering was easy, part came quickly and insulation was quick.

  • Availability of Atwood RV Propane Detector
Hey Garry, so the specific propane detector you are looking for is not currently available but we do have the Atwood part # AT36681 which also detects carbon monoxide. If you wanted just a propane detector though we do have the part # RS44FR.

  • Replacement Options For An Atwood 33636E Propane Gas Detector
Atwood propane detectors have been on and off available since the Atwood brand was bought out and slowly killed off by Dometic so you'd be hard pressed to find one at this point. We currently only offer the RV Safe brand which has either just propane gas detection or models with propane gas and carbon monoxide detection. Each of these come with trim plates that are a surface mount design to cover up any gaps left behind by the old unit. The small trim measures 5-3/4" long x 4-1/4" wide...

  • What is the Lifespan of the 2-Wire RV Propane Gas Detector
I reached out to the manufacturer on this and they mentioned that they are required by law to print a date on these units, but they informed me that the 5 year lifespan of the # RS44FR begins when it's connected to the power source. Additionally, this information was provided-"We give an "End-of-Life" signal after 5 years of operation, so the alarm will continue to function normally for at least 5 years after installation." I can see why this would be confusing, and so do they; so hopefully...

  • Where Is The Battery For An RV Propane Gas Detector
RV propane detectors will typically only have an internal battery and will not have one that you can replace. Two-wire systems like the RV Propane Gas Detector # RS44FR would wire directly to the trailer battery for power.

  • What Propane Gas Detector Replaces The CL0380651
Our best option for a Propane Gas Detector is the RV Safe RV Propane Detector which is available in black # RS44FR and in white # RS64FR. I was not able to find any information or references for the part number CL0380651 that you provided, but the RV Safe detector is basically a universal replacement. The alarm itself measures 4-1/4" long x 2-5/8" wide and it comes with two different size mounting brackets which allow it to fit in pretty much any space.

  • Recommended Replacement for Black Atwood RV Propane Gas Detector 31013
The RV Propane Gas Detector part # RS64FR for white or part # RS44FR for black is what I recommend using to replace the the Atwood RV Propane Gas Detector part 31013 (Discontinued). The mounting plate for this new detector will cover up any holes you had for the previous so it will be a super clean install when finished. You'd just need to use some butt connector like part # DW05744-5 to attach the wires and you're good.

  • Replacement Gas Detector for an Atwood Series 2001 LP Gas Detector
I tried finding information on the blinking green light on your Atwood Series 2001 LP Gas Detector but was unable to find anything that mentioned a blinking green light. The Atwood Series 2001 LP Gas Detector you have is no longer available which is likely why it was difficult to find information. The Atwood Series 2001 LP Gas Detector does have a life cycle of 7 years +/- 128 days. This starts once the detector is first started up. If you believe you are close to or passed that 7 year...

  • Replacement LP Gas Detector for a CCI 7770.2 / Pre Tell 22 Detector
We do have some LP gas detectors available, but none would be a direct replacement for your CCI 7770.2 / Pre Tell 22. From what I could find on your CCI 7770.2 / Pre Tell 22, it has dimensions of 6.25" wide x 3.9" tall. The RV Propane Gas Detector # RS44FR (black) and # RS64FR (white) measure 4-1/4" long x 2-5/8" tall but have two different bracket sizes to fit what you need. • Replacement LP Gas Detector Recommendation For Older Protechtor 2001 Series LP Gas Detector

This replacement will work with virtually any alarm, so it is likely to work with yours as well, and features the same two wire design as your current Protechtor Series 2001.

I recommend using the RV Propane Gas Detector - 12 Volt - 2 Wire - Black # RS44FR and using the larger 7-1/4" long x 3-3/8" wide bracket for the installation as that should be a little larger than your current model 7770.2 gas detector.
