Roadmaster Tow Bar Braking Systems - RM-751454

  • Stop Light Switch
  • Roadmaster

Avoid damage to your vehicle by ensuring that your supplemental braking system is properly positioned and working effectively. Kit activates your RV monitoring system to alert you when the brakes of your towed car are being applied.

Features:

  • Activates motorhome brake-monitoring system whenever brake pedal in towed car is applied
    • Ensures that the supplemental braking system is functioning properly
  • Works great for any application that does not have a tow position in the ignition
  • Wires directly into towed car's fuse box for constant current
  • Made in the USA
  • Limited Lifetime Warranty

Specs:

  • 12 Volts
  • Application: custom fit for your vehicle

This kit allows your RV's monitoring system to alert you whenever the brake pedal of your towed car is being applied. Other systems operate according to whether the air cylinder is extended and provide no indication of what is happening with the pedal itself. If your supplemental braking system is improperly installed, it may be continuously pressing on the pedal, impeding it from fully retracting and possibly causing damage to your vehicle's tires and braking system. With Roadmaster's Stop Light Switch Kit, you will always know when the brake is being depressed, and you will avoid costly damage.

Ive installed the ble ox base plate bx2654 and the remote battery disconnect #766. Installation was easy great instructions to follow. Also installed 12 volt outlet kit #9332. I'm installing led bulb and socket kit 152-led. Great so far.

etrailer was great to work with and the light switch kit arrived as promised. The instructions were clear and I was able to install the unit on our Ford Focus which solved our tow car breaking issue.

  • Confirmation of Parts Needed to Flat Tow 2018 Ford Focus
It looks like you've got just about everything you'll need, but I'd go a step further and add a charge line kit, part # RM-156-25. Your braking system will draw power directly from the battery, so it would make good sense to use the 12-volt supply from the motorhome's 7-way to keep the battery topped off while towing. The power for the taillights on the Focus will come directly from the motorhome while the vehicle is being towed, so the diode kit included with the # RM-9243-1 combo wiring...

  • How to Tow a 2016 Ford Focus Behind a Motorhome
For starters, what engine and transmission do you have in your 2016 Ford Focus? If you have the 1.0L I3 engine then the vehicle must be towed on a dolly with the front two wheels off of the ground. If you have the 2.0L I4 engine then the vehicle can be flat-towed with all four wheels on the ground. I will provide options for both engine options below but you need to check the owner's manual for your particular vehicle to see if there are any other flat-towing or dolly towing procedures...

  • Base Plate For 2018 Ford Focus Compatible With Roadmaster Eagle 8000 Tow Bar
The older Roadmaster Eagle 8000 is compatible with the Roadmaster Direct-Connect Base Plate Kit - Removable Arms part # RM-524443-5 which is designed for the 2018 Ford Focus as long as it doesn't have adaptive cruise control. I have attached an installation video for your reference. You will also need wiring, supplemental braking system and possibly a high low adapter. For the wiring, I recommend Roadmaster Diode 7-Wire to 6-Wire Flexo-Coil Wiring Kit part # RM-15267 and Roadmaster InvisiBrake...

  • Recommended Permanently Installed Supplemental Braking System to Flat Tow a 2018 Ford Focus
On your 2018 Ford Focus I recommend the Stay-IN-Play DUO, part # SM99251, for a supplemental braking system. Mainly because no only does it work well (as does the InvisiBrake) it's a little easier to install. Our installers prefer it to any other permanently installed system. I've linked a video of when we installed it into a 2015 Focus for you. You're also going to need a Brake-Lite Relay, part # RM-88400, to keep the lights of the Focus from overriding the lights of the RV. The InvisiBrake...

  • Compatibility of Stop Light Switch Kit on a 2012 Ford Focus Titanium Hatchback w/o Adaptive Cruise
I can help you figure out if you need the # RM-751454 stop light switch or not for your 2012 Ford Focus Titanium Hatchback. If your Focus is an automatic then you will need the # RM-751454 stop light switch kit and you will need to disconnect the battery to tow. If your Focus is a manual, you will not need the stop light switch kit, and you will not need to disconnect your battery to tow. Some items you will need to complete your towing setup are: base plate kit like # BX2633 wiring...

  • Compatibility of Roadmaster RM-9400 Even Brake with 2014 Ford Focus
I'm not certain which list you're speaking of, but the Roadmaster # RM-9400 Even Brake is indeed compatible with both manual and automatic transmission-equipped models of the 2014 Ford Focus, as confirmed with Roadmaster. The Even Brake is quick and easy to use, and doesn't require hours of expensive shop labor to install. It can easily be removed and installed in a new vehicle if need be. For a manual transmission vehicle, a 12-volt outlet kit # RM-9332 is required. For an automatic transmission,...

  • Parts Needed to Flat-Tow a 2016 Ford Focus
In order to flat-tow a 2016 Ford Focus with all four wheels on the ground you are going to need a base plate kit, tow bar, safety cables, supplemental braking system, wiring harness, and possible high-low adapter. Before getting started, I highly recommend taking a look in the owner's manual for any specific procedures that must be done while in tow. For a base plate kit, I recommend the Roadmaster EZ5 Base Plate Kit part # RM-524443-5 as long as you do not have adaptive cruise control....

  • Recommended Supplemental Braking System For A 2017 Ford Focus
You are correct that in order to prevent battery drain while flat towing your 2017 Ford Focus, you will need to disconnect the vehicle's battery cable. However, my contact at Roadmaster recommended you disconnect the positive battery cable while towing, not the negative battery cable. This can easily be done by installing the Roadmaster Automatic Battery Disconnect with Switch for Towed Vehicle w/ Supplemental Braking System part # RM-766. With the addition of the Roadmaster Tow Bar to Blue Ox Brackets Adapter, # RM-031, you can use the Blue Ox Base Plates, # BX2633, with your Roadmaster Blackhawk towbar. These base plates are specifically designed for use with your 2013 Ford Focus SE but are not compatible with the ST model or any vehicle equipped with the adaptive cruise control feature. In addition to the base plates, you may also still need safety cables, a lighting solution and in most states, a supplemental braking...

To flat tow a 2016-2018 Ford Focus with adaptive cruise control you'll need a base plate, a tow bar, safety cables, tow bar wiring, supplemental braking system and possibly a high low adapter to tow level. • Recommendations For Flat-Towing A 2014 Ford Focus With Manual Transmission
I did some research and according to the owner's manual for your 2014 Ford Focus, it appears you do not have to disconnect the battery when towing if it has a manual transmission. The only reference I was able to find said to release the parking brake, and place the vehicle in neutral. It also states not to tow above 70 mph. There are 5 items you need when considering flat-towing your Focus. You need base plates, a tow bar, safety chains, wiring to provide lights for your towed vehicle,...

These base plates will give you a really clean look when installed and will work very well with the Roadmaster Nighthawk All Terrain, Non-Binding Tow Bar w/ LED Lights - RV Mount - 8K # RM-676. • Recommended Braking System For Flat Towing A 2018 Ford Focus Behind A Motorhome With Air Brakes
For air brakes the best option is going to be the Demco Air Force One Supplemental Braking System w/ Wireless Coachlink # DM26VR. This is a fixed system that won't require you to perform any setup after the initial installation. It's a proportional system that will apply the brakes in your Focus with the same exact intensity that you press on the motorhome brake pedal. The installation is quite a bit of work so if you aren't that handy you can also go with an easy option like the Brake...
