Video Transcript for Review of Lippert Fifth Wheel King Pin - Standard Replacement - LC1270271

Hello everybody. This is Jeff at etrailer.com. Today, we're gonna take a look at the Lippert 1116 5th wheel pin box. This one has a 19,000 pound gross towing weight capacity. Now, this pin box will serve as a direct replacement for the worn or damaged Lippert 1116 pin box that's on your 5th wheel trailer. The king pin right down here is what'll connect to any 5th wheel trailer hitch.

And this part is a durable steel construction. If you notice, has a nice, black powder coat finish over the whole part to resist rust and corrosion. It is a bolt-on installation. It will attach to your trailer frame with existing hardware and it does bolt into place along three rows of bolt holes. Now, one thing you do wanna make sure is make note of the bolt hole locations of the factory installed pin box cause this new pin box will be mounted in those same hole settings.

And one other note is because this pin box is quite heavy, probably around 90 pounds, we do recommend for you to have a friend to help you support its weight during installation. This part is made in the USA. Few specs again on this, the weight capacity is 19,000 pounds. But that should do it for the review on the Lippert 1116 5th wheel pin box with the 19,000 pound gross towing weight capacity..

I was happy with the price. I should fit perfectly and go on our camper with very little problems. It arrived at our home in approximately 3 days from when I ordered. which to me seemed very fast. I was however when I found it at my house the package was torn open many different ways. i'm using it to replace the factory hitch. I would etrailer for anything RV related.

Hitch king pin box was a perfect fit and installed easily. I just finished hauling the trailer with it on a 5000 mile trip and it worked flawlessly.

by:

For those of you who, like me, may have purchased a truck with the under the bed rail system for your fifth wheel you know the positioning of the rail system is set in front of the rear axle instead of directly above the axle making the distance between the cab and trailer that much closer. This can cause a problem hooking up with your tail gate in the down position if you have a medium length pin box on your trailer. etrailer has a great chart online to help you determine what kind of pin box you have and if there is another one manufactured that will fit in the same place. This longer pin box for me was a great economical, safe solution. The Lippert 1716 long box is a direct replacement for the Lippert 1116 medium box, but is seven inches longer giving me the needed distance to hook up.

by:

Perfect fit and easy to change out. Beyyer yet the pin length os perfect.

by:

First time using etrailer so I wasn't sure what to expect. But they were fast, efficient and keep us updated throughout the shipment. This was a replacement part for a customer shipping their cargo on us to Nome and it had to get here on time, very pleased with the service and follow through.
Thanks
Tom

by:

I was greatly surprised to find that the replacement hitch had been re-engineered. I was expecting to add reinforcement to the hitch before mounting it to the trailer. I had previously bent two hitches when I had to jump on the brakes when cut off by idiots on the highway. From what I seen in this hitch I believe it will now do what I need it to do!! Thank You

by:

because of the way it was packed or miss handled by ups people the box broke /was distroyed delaying delivery of the item and slight damage to the item which i will repair as i need to complete the install.

by:

Teresa J, was very helpful she did a great job in making sure I received the correct hitch, shipping was supper fast. The price was the best that I found on the internet. The hitch is very sturdy and heavy duty thanks for the great help.

  • How To Raise The Height Of A 5th Wheel Trailers Nose
If you're trying to raise the trailer nose to level it out while towing or gain a bit of clearance between the nose of the trailer and the bedrails of your truck then you can move your pin box down on the mounting ears, if space allows. On a pin box like the Lippert 1116 5th Wheel Pin Box # LC1270271 you have one extra set of holes below on the mounting ears to move the pin box down. Other than that you could replace the pin box you currently have with another that has a greater distance...

To figure out if the # LC1270271 will fit your 2009 Raptor Toyhauler Model RP36ILEV, you will need to take a few measurements. I have linked a Help article to help you determine what measurements you will need to take. If you could provide me with what Pin Box you have on your trailer I can better customize a specific answer for you. Most king pins will have the pinbox number on a sticker, or it will be stamped on the king pin itself. If it's worn away or missing, you will have to call...

  • How To Find Correct Replacement Pin Box For Fifth Wheel Trailer
The Lippert 1116 5th Wheel Pin Box part # LC1270271 is the replacement pin box for a trailer that came with a Lippert 1116 pin box on the trailer from the manufacturer. You would need to know the brand and model number of your current 1988 Jayco Fifth wheel Pin box to know for sure if the Lippert will fit. Usually the brand and model information is on a sticker on the existing pin box. If you are able to find the information on the sticker please let me know and I can help you further....

By 'drawing', I'm assuming you're needing the bolt hole spacing, is that correct? Lippert won't provide a build sheet, because that's considered proprietary information, but I've provided a diagram showing the bolt hole spacing. The bolt hole spacing dimensions provided are measured center to center. I hope that'll be helpful for you.

  • What Would Cause Pin Box to Hit Side of Bed Rails
We don't have a shorter version of the Rotaflex you have now which is similar to the part # LC328492 but if you are having issues with the pin box hitting the bed rails that makes me think you have the hitch head of your fifth wheel too low. Is your trailer sitting nose low? Could you raise the height of your fifth wheel and still allow the trailer to sit level. Another thing that can help is see if you can install the pin box higher on the brackets of your trailer frame. That will allow...

He stated that you can actually replace the pin box with the Lippert 1116 Pin Box # LC1270271, which is shorter than what you have but uses the same mounting bolt pattern. We do offer replacement 5th wheel pin boxes that allow towing the 5th wheel trailer with a gooseneck hitch. These items are made to replace specific popular standard king pins on 5th wheel trailers. For instance, Reese Goosebox # RP85FR replaces several Lippert pin boxes, models 1621, 1621HD and 0719, and allows a gooseneck hitch to pull the trailer. This unit bolts right on in place of the standard pin box and offers 4000-lb tongue weight and 20K towing capacities. This unit also features...
