Draw-Tite Tested Tough

Draw-Tite Tested Tough

Draw-Tite's Tested Tough program provides testing standards far superior to those outlined by the Society of Automotive Engineers (SAE), the go-to source for engineering professionals.

Each Draw-Tite trailer hitch receiver undergoes extensive fatigue testing and static testing with the ball mount that is either supplied or recommended for use with that particular hitch, thus ensuring results that are applicable to real life use. Fatigue testing is also conducted on hitches rated for use with weight-distribution systems.

In addition, Draw-Tite performs static testing on a simulated automobile, as opposed to the rigid fixture used for SAE testing, resulting in a more true-to-life scenario.

my grandson is in auto school put this on for me and was very impressed
After installation, which was not very difficult, he said it looks like it was put in by the factory or the dealer so I take his word that it’s a very good product

2022 Subaru Outback Wagon

Just got it. Haven't installed. Already though it arrived with many scratches and parts of the coating chipped off. About 20 or so dime size pieces of the rust proof coating were chipped off. I'm really surprised/annoyed that the packaging is just the hitch and no supportive/protective foam or really anything else to keep it from bouncing around inside the cardboard box. I already bought some rustoleum spray paint. I'll update this once I've installed it.

When the hitches are shipped to us they are shipped stacked together in large pallets which means that at times they arrive in less than pristine condition. You have already done what I recommend by touching up the affected areas with a rust resistant paint. It is beneficial to have the paint on hand for regular hitch maintenance.

Put a hitch on the Subaru Outback to pull the boat and it does fine.

  • Install Video to Use for Draw Tite Hitch # DT94YR that Fits 2023 Subaru Outback Wagon
We haven't had a customer bring us a Subaru Outback to install the Draw Tite Hitch part # DT94YR in yet which is why we don't have an install video yet. With that said the Curt hitch part # C67JR which also is a fit for your 2023 Subaru Outback Wagon we do have an install video for. This hitch installs almost exactly the same so you could use the attached video as a guide.

  • Can 2020 Subaru Outback Use Accessory 12 Volt to Install 7-Way for Curt Echo Brake Controller
That is a good question, but you do need to run the 12 volt hot lead to your battery when installing the wiring on your 2020 Subaru Outback for the Curt Echo Wireless Trailer Brake Controller # C51180. The reason is this is the only way to ensure your car's wiring is not otherwise affected as routing the power there can cause potential shorts, damaging your Subaru's electrical system. So you will definitely want to route the power wire to the 12 volt battery in the engine compartment....

  • What Type of Silicon is Needed for Draw-Tite Hitch On 2020 Subaru Outback
I recommend using the Loctite RTV 598 High-Performance Silicone Gasket Maker part # LT37467 in order to install the Draw-Tite Max-Frame Trailer Hitch Receiver part # DT94YR on a 2020 Subaru Outback. That said, any silicon gasket maker will work. The above is also found at most local auto parts stores.

  • Towing Capacity and Trailer Hitch Recommendation for 2021 Subaru Outback 2.5L
According to Subaru, the 2.5L equipped 2021 Outback does carry a 2700 lb towing/270 lb tongue weight capacity. This means that they have tested the vehicle up to that weight, and the engineering folks feel comfortable using that as a towing capacity, knowing that the rear structure/frame members would be used as the attachment point for a hitch. Given this, I'd personally feel confident towing with the vehicle as long as the capacities/limits mentioned by Subaru in the owner's manual aren't...

  • Is Silicone Required for Draw-Tite Trailer Hitch On 2022 Subaru Outback
In regards to the installation of the Draw-Tite Max-Frame Trailer Hitch Receiver part # DT94YR on a 2022 Subaru Outback, the silicone sealant is used to help protect the inside of the frame so water doesn't get inside and lead to rust. It's used on pretty much every hitch for this vehicle that installs behind the bumper beam. I don't think you will really have any issues with not using it but I can't really recommend this either. We do carry the silicone though as part # LT37467. I have...

  • Is the Draw-Tite Hitch # DT94YR Made in the U.S.A.?
While we do have a great U.S.A.-made solution for your 2022 Subaru Outback Wagon, the Draw-Tite # DT94YR is manufactured overseas. With that being said, if you are looking for the next-highest weight capacity hitch we carry for your vehicle that was manufactured in the U.S.A., I recommend the EcoHitch - 2" # EH34FR. With the EcoHitch, you receive the advantage of a concealed crosstube and looks more like a factory accessory than the # DT94MR. If you wish to have a more economical U.S.A.-made...

It sure will, and here's why.... The Draw-Tite 76597 which we sell as part # DT94YR doesn't actually install under the vehicle where the exhaust could possibly interfere with the fit of the hitch. The hitch actually installs between the factory bumper/crash beam and the body of the vehicle which is above and rearward of the exhaust. For the EcoHitch part # EH34FR we have an install video on a 2021 Outback which is very similar. We do not have an install video for the etrailer hitch # e25TR at this time (June 2022) but I would assume we will have one soon. This hitch installs very similarly to the # DT94YR though. • Trailer Hitch With Best Ground Clearance For Carrying Bike Rack On 2021 Subaru Outback
For your 2021 Subaru Outback Wagon I recommend the Draw-Tite Max-Frame Trailer Hitch Receiver - Custom Fit - Class III - 2" # DT94YR as it has the most ground clearance out of all of the hitches available for your vehicle at 16" as you can see in the included diagram, and has a tongue weight rating of 525lbs making it plenty strong for carrying a bike rack. • Trailer Hitch and Wiring Recommendations for a 2022 Subaru Outback Wagon Wilderness
The Curt # C67JR and Draw-Tite # DT73RR and # DT94YR trailer hitches do all fit your 2022 Subaru Outback Wagon Wilderness but I actually recommend going with our etrailer version part # e25TR because it has the hidden crosstube for increased ground clearance like the other options, but more importantly it has a matte black finish that is more subtle but more durable than the classic glossy black finish the other options have. Thanks for reaching out! The closest hitch design we have to something that sits in the bumper on your 2020 Subaru Forester is the Hidden Hitch by Draw-Tite Trailer Hitch Receiver # DT24YR. The crossbeam is installed behind the bumper and then there is a removable receiver so you can retain that OEM look when you aren't towing or utilizing a bike rack. It can be a bit daunting especially if you've never done anything like this before but there aren't any other alternative installation methods. • Draw Tite Trailer Hitch that Fits 2021 Subaru Outback Onyx XT
We have confirmed with Draw Tite that their hitch part # DT73RR is a confirmed fit for the 2021 Subaru Outback so it will work great on your vehicle. If you wanted a similar hitch that is a little more hidden the Draw Tite part # DT94YR would be a really great option as only the hitch opening hangs below the rear bumper. If you were looking for a really solid bike rack the Hollywood Racks part # HR200Z is the best option for that as it's easy to load/use, is priced decently and is very stable.

Both hitches offer higher capacities than the maximum towing and tongue weight capacity specified in the owner's manual (3500GTW/350TW for 2.4L or 2700GTW/270TW for 2.5L equipped models) so the slight differences in capacity between the Curt # C67JR and the Draw-Tite # DT94YR are irrelevant. Thanks for all of the measurements and info you got me. So the great news is the ball mount portion of the Stealth Hitch part # 391SUOB20T you referenced is the exact perfect height since it measures right at 18 inches from top of ball down to ground when installed on a Outback like your 2020 model and since the coupler lip dimension of the trailer you plan to tow is exactly 18 inches. Between the Draw Tite hitches that fit your 2020 Subaru Outback Wagon the best option is for sure the # DT94YR as it has the same capacity as your vehicle but mainly because it only has the hitch opening visible below the rear bumper whereas the other option # DT73RR is going to be much more visible.
