Whereas belt-driven fans use up power from the engine to turn, electric fans do not, thus removing any unnecessary load and increasing both fuel economy and horsepower. In addition, you do not have to worry about an electric fan's slowing down at low RPM, as many belt-driven fans do, so you are guaranteed sufficient airflow regardless of the vehicle speed.
Before purchasing an electric fan, be sure to determine the CFM (cubic feet per minute) requirements for your engine. And remember, engines that have been modified or vehicles often used for towing may require additional CFM. There is no limit to the number of fans you can install, as long they all fit appropriately and are mounted on the same side of your radiator so that they do not cancel each other out.
Two types of turn-on sources are available for this fan. The Derale Lighted On/Off Switch for Electric Fans (D16740) allows for manual control of your fan so that you can choose when to turn it on and off. Thermostatic controls, on the other hand, send a signal to the fan, directing it to shut off when fluid temperatures reach an appropriate level, thus saving power. Once the temperature climbs again and additional cooling is needed, the fan is automatically turned back on. Thermostat switches can be single-stage with pre-set temperatures - D16735, D16738, D16739, D16720 and D16721 - or adjustable - D16778 and D16779.

Features dual-speed ability. This is the thinest high flow fan i could find on the market, and it's a perfect fit on an FJ40 radiator! The installation was very simple and was complete in 20min.

I bought this electric fan for my 65 mustang 289cd, trying to keep engine cool, but after taking awhile to install the electric fan did not do what I thought it would do. Engine temp. went to high almust to 240degrees. Tried to make work changed by changing thermostats, but nothing kept temp. done.
Changed back to oringal fan, temp came down. But the electric fan in garage. Fan work fine, but did not cool my engine.
Used in my 51 F1. It is thicker than most so make sure you have the room for it.
It works good and seems to be built very well.
THIS FAN WAS PUT THRU THE RINGER IN A NUT ORCHARD MACHINE. IT HAS PERFORMED GREAT AND WE WILL BE ORDERING MORE FOR THIS MACHINE.
This fan was purchased for an antique puller tractor, it looks to be a fine piece of equipment.

The fan was overheated and burned down after the small work duration half an hour ! under a car cowl. Some plastic mass melted and flowed out from the electric fan motor - thereby the rotor has been stopped by a melted mass and thereof coils have overheated and have burned down. It is obviously visible miscalculations in use of a material inside the engine.THE FAN COULD BE INSTALLED ONLY BEFORE THE RADIATOR.AND NOT AFTER THE DADIATOR.The service engineering department did not answer my questions from 2011.I am rather upset concerning quality of this product. I have referred the advertizing of the manufacturer and didnt expect such poor quality.
