Installation
This custom-fit T-connector plugs into your vehicle's wiring harness, which is located behind the driver's-side and passenger's-side interior trim panels in your rear cargo area. Once you've plugged in the T-connector, run the hot lead up to your car battery and connect it to the positive terminal. Then insert the included fuse into the integrated fuse holder.
Once installation is complete, the 4-way connector will be stowed in an out-of-the-way location within your cargo area.
It is recommended that you use a small amount of grease on all electrical connections - the plugs on your automobile and the 4-pole connector itself - to help prevent corrosion.
A tail light converter is built into this T-connector. This converter is a circuit-protected, battery-powered unit that bypasses the electrical routes that are used by a basic wiring harness. As a result, there is virtually no draw on your tail light circuits.
Because most trailers run on a two-wire system - wherein the brake and turn signals are carried on one wire - the separate brake and turn signals from your vehicle's three-wire system need to be combined so they are compatible with the wiring system of the trailer. This converter combines the brake and turn signal functions of your automobile so that they run on one wire to properly activate your trailer's tail lights. Note: This will not affect how the tail lights on your vehicle operate.
Curt builds each tail light converter using surface-mount technology (SMT). This method of construction involves soldering electronic components directly to the surface of a printed circuit board. SMT eliminates the need for leads, which are used in older through-hole technology. The result is a circuit board that is smaller yet provides more routing area and that offers superior performance, reliability and durability.
Circuit boards constructed using SMT have been shown to perform better under rough conditions with excessive vibration than those made using the through-hole method. And where would vibration be more likely to occur than in towing applications? Curt converters also produce less heat, leading to increased durability and longer life. In addition, lower levels of resistance ensure better performance, especially for parts that operate at higher frequencies.
Each Curt circuit board is made using high-quality components that are pieced together in the most technologically savvy fashion, leading to greater predictability and reliability in functioning.

Today we're going to review part number C56041. This is the Curt T-Connector Vehicle Wiring Harness with the 4-Way Flat Trailer Connector. This is a custom fit part. It is designed to fit the 2009 to 2014 Hyundai Genesis sedans. On a custom fit part, I always recommend to go to our website, use our fit guide, put in your year and model vehicle, and it will show you if this will work for your application. This harness provides this 4-way flat trailer connector at the back of your vehicle to power your trailer's signal lights. The harness includes this black box here, which is the tail light converter.
This is to ensure that your vehicle's wiring will match that of your trailer. Now this converter is a powered converter, connects directly to your battery using the wire right here. The reason they do that is to avoid overloading your vehicle's electrical system. The converter itself is constructed using SMT technology, which is surface mount technology. It gives you consistent, reliable performance.
It will maximize your trailer light yield and intensity while producing minimal heat. It will give you superior operation on any rough road conditions. It also comes with this nice dust cap that you can use on your 4-way. In other words, you can just attach to there. When you're not plugged into your trailer, you can just put your dust cap over there. It protects those terminals from any damage or from the elements. A few specs on this.
The converter has a maximum amperage on the stop and turn light circuits, is 3 amps per circuit. On the tail lights it's 6 amps total. It comes with everything shown here on the table. It has a nice set of detailed instructions that instructs you how to put it on. It even has pictures of where the connections are. Basically what you would do ... It does connect very quickly and easily.
There's no cutting or splicing of wires. Basically, what you would do is locate your connection points, which are in the rear cargo area behind the tail lights. What you'll do is start on the passenger side. You'll take this T-connector right here, has the green wire in it. You'll go behind the tail lights, unplug the harness from the tail lights, plug this into that and then into the harness, also. You'll note this has a white wire with an eyelet on it. That you need to connect to a good, clean ground. To get a good, clean ground they do included a grounding screw that you can drill a hole, connect to your good, clean ground. Then what you want to do is go over to the passenger side. You'll see this T-connector with the yellow wire in it. That has a length of wire that runs over to the passenger side, the same way you'll connect this behind the tail lights. Once that's all connected, you'll want the converter itself . You don't want that bouncing around. You do want to attach that down to a nice, flat surface. They do include a double-sided piece of tape that you can put on there and attach that down so it doesn't move around. If you need to attach it down any further, you can use some of the extra cable ties that will also help out on that. The last wire you have here is this black wire that is connected to an in-line fuse holder. The black power wire goes to this red in-line fuse holder. What you need to do on this is this will need to connect to the positive post of your vehicle's battery. On the vehicle, the Hyundai Genesis that this fits on, the battery is in the trunk. What you'll do is will go ahead and connect to the positive post. You open up the fuse holder, take the included 10-amp fuse, go ahead and put it in the fuse holder, and then put the cap back on. With all those connections made, you can run this length of bonded wire out the back, so your 4-way. Take your dust cover off, plug it into your trailer, and it will supply the lights that you need on your trailer. You'll be already to go. That should do it for the review on part number C56041. This is the Curt T-Connector Vehicle Wiring Harness with the 4-Way Flat Trailer Connector.

Quickly and easily install a 4-way trailer connector on your vehicle with this custom harness. T-connector plugs directly into existing wiring. Powered converter reduces strain on wiring system and is made using SMT to ensure superior performance.Easy to install, just reversed wires as I pulled out the old wiring harness. Great product so far as I just returned from a 300 mile trip from to Daytona from Charleston to bring back my new Harley on my trailer. Lighting system worked great
"T connector kit" contained everything I needed to make the hook-up complete. The wire and plastic interconnects fit perfectly. All parts were made of good materials.
My car was a 2013 Hyundai Genesis 4 door sedan. Parts fir perfect. Pictures were accurate but print quality could have been better and a few more pictures of install would have been more helpful.
I was planning for an afternoon of cursing and debugging to install trailer wiring in my 2011 Genesis. Little did I know it would take longer to get all the junk out of my trunk than it did to install the wiring harness. No holes to drill. Just plug in a piggyback connector behind each tail light and then make the pos and neg battery connections. And best of all it works perfectly.
No reason not to give an excellent rating, but wiring harness is sitting on a shelf in garage. Never installed, and got rid of car. They shipped product just as described and when they said they would. So good job, anyone want to buy this harness, lol
I am very pleased with the product and service. Well built.
It is getting harder to find an honest company that stands behind its product in today's world. keep up the excellent work and don't get woke, as I cancel my purchases from such so call politically correct companies. thank you.
Plug and play for my 2009 Hyundai Genesis. Works great
Easily installed with good directions. PERFECT !!!
