Installation
This custom-fit T-connector plugs into your vehicle's wiring harness, which is located behind the rear bumper, on the driver's and passenger's sides.
Once installation is complete, the 4-way connector will be stowed beneath your vehicle, near the trailer hitch. A mounting bracket (sold separately) is recommended to keep the connector secure.
It is recommended that you use a small amount of grease on all electrical connections - the plugs on your automobile and the 4-pole connector itself - to help prevent corrosion.

Today we'll be taking a look at part number C55356. This is the Curt T-Connector Vehicle Wiring Harness with the four pull flat trailer connector. This product is going to fit certain years of the Jeep TJ, Jeep YJ, and Jeep Wrangler. It's going to provide your four way flat trailer connector at the back of your vehicle to power your trailer signal lights. It is compatible with five pull, six pull, and seven pull adapters, the adapters are sold separately and it's going to come with a dust cap for the four way flat connector. That way you can keep those connection points protected when the plug is not in use.
A benefit of a system like this is that it is designed to connect quickly and easily. You don't have to worry about cutting or splicing any of your wires. All you have to do is locate the connection points behind the rear bumper and plug in your T-Connectors. The side with the green wire is going to go to the passenger side, yellow and brown wire side is going to go to the drivers side of the vehicle. The plugs are going to match up perfectly with the plugs on the vehicle. They're going to connect together and then snap-lock into place for a nice, tight, secure fit.
Once you have those connected, you can go ahead and make your ground connection. That's going to be the white wire with the ring terminal attached to it. You can make the ground to a nice, clean, metal surface using the included self-tapping screw. Then you can secure your excess wires with the included zip-ties and just keep them up and out of the way. Once your installation is complete, the four way connector is going to be stowed beneath your vehicle near the trailer hitch.
You can loop it around the safety chain loop or you can use a mounting bracket, that's going to be recommended and sold separately, and that's going to help keep the connector secure and it's also recommended that you use a small amount of dielectric grease on all your electrical connections like the plugs on the vehicle and the four pull connector itself to help prevent corrosion. If you don't have any of that dielectric grease, you can find some here on our website. It's going to be sold separately. It's also going to come with your detailed instructions. These are going to help walk you through the installation process step-by-step. That's going to do it for today's look at part number C55356..

Bought this wiring harness for my jeep. I have never used one before. Always just cut and taped up wires. This is so clean and perfect. I installed it in about an hour this morning and half that time was just zipping up wires and mounting the bracket I bought with it. it has silicone looking boots inside the fitting just like the original wiring to keep everything watertight. Easy to install, no stupid cutting and taping, custom fit. It is just perfect. Oh, and it works, unlike some of my other projects.

Works great. Plug and play. Very easy install. Worth the extra couple bucks to buy a proper harness as opposed to splicing a universal harness. Worst part for me was knocking all the mud out of the rear quarters to access the connectors.

The part # C55356 that you referenced is for newer Wranglers and would not work for you. The 1986 through 1995 Wranglers were the YJ generation. Your is a 1990 so that would be what you have.
