2005 Chrysler Town and Country

I bought a Curt trailer hitch for my 2005 Chrysler Town and Country minivan, with Stow and Go seating. I spoke with Kevin from etrailer.com who was very helpful and confirmed the part numbers for the hitch, wiring harness, and drawbar, and took my order. They arrived at my house on the next day.

The parts arrived in two boxes - one large box for the hitch, the other smaller box for the wiring harness and drawbar. The parts were all there, and correct, with installation instructions included. I spent about an hour installing the hitch itself, including jacking up the rear of the van to gain access to the underside, installing the hitch, and letting the car down. The instructions were spot-on. The wiring took less than an hour. I cleaned up and waxed the area behind the tailights, and routed the wiring carefully. The wiring was a perfect fit. Again, the instructions helped considerably.

The free shipping was a selling factor, plus their lowest price pledge saved me a little over $30.00. I am glad I decided to purchase the hitch and accessories from etrailer.com.

It is a solid, well-built hitch but it had to be modified to fit. In the mount there is a cutout that is designed to fit around a bolt on the frame. The problem is that neither of the cutouts would fit around the bolts. We had to cut both sides out more in order for the hitch to fit. This may be a similar problem with other hitches as well, but don't count on a 30 minute installation and make sure you have a grinder or something to modify this hitch.

2007 Dodge Grand Caravan

Ordered the hitch for an 07 Grand Caravan with Stow-n-Go seats and used the YouTube video to see how they installed it and it helped reassure me that I was ordering the right one. The hitch fit correctly and installed as demonstrated. I was working in a well-equipped farm shop with access to good tools , but not a lift, so I was working laying under the van.

I didn't see anything about the size of the receiver receptical, so I ended up with smaller size than I expected. Might have been my error, or maybe that's what a class II hitch is, don't know. This hitch is on a repurposed state-surplus van purchased to be my field expedient work management platform, which includes using it to tow portable toilets.

Compared to a pickup truck, the van has pretty low ground clearance and I had thought the way the hitch attaches that it would be even worse, but it isn't. It's still higher than the exhaust pipe.

I find that the hitch framework makes frequent contact with the ground when I enter or exit uneven driveways even without a trailer.

I was impressed by the speed and service of Etrailer. The Curt hitch was off slightly, as noted in other posts and did not line up exactly. With some prying and coaxing, we got it installed. And this is DEFINITELY a 2-man job.

2005 Dodge Grand Caravan

Sturdy construction, heavy, clear instructions with one exception. The instructions say the bolts are 10mm and 12mm. In truth, on my 2005 Dodge Grand Caravan, they were 15mm and 18mm. Product looks good installed and is a tight fit.

10mm and 12mm is the size of the bolt shank. 15mm and 18mm are the size of the socket needed for the head.

Thank you for the clarification. Good information to have.

The hitch was delivered in a timely manner. And fit perfectly. I will order again when I get a different auto. The true test is when I pulled my trailer loaded with two face cord of oak. No problem.

Great quality, install wasn't bad with 2 people, we did it lying on the ground do that made it tougher. The directions were great and the YouTube video was perfect.

  • Should Rear Axle Be Supported When Installing Curt C12289 Hitch On 2006 Chrysler Town and Country
According to the manufacturer's installation instructions, which I have linked for you at the bottom, it is not necessary to support or lift the rear axle of your vehicle before removing the three 10mm bolts that attach the rear spring shackle to the vehicle's frame. Our in-house installers are lucky to have the convenience of a commercial hydraulic lift. However, custom trailer hitches like the # C12289 you are installing are designed keeping in mind that most customers will be performing...

  • Hitch To Fit 2005 Dodge Caravan With VMI Modifications
The Curt Trailer Hitch # C12289 will in fact, fit your 2005 Dodge Caravan SE. The hitch will not interfere with any of the vans VMI modifications as it does not get close enough to the rear axle. Additionally, when the hitch it fully installed it is approximately 12 1/4 inches from the top of the receiver tube opening, to the ground giving you plenty of clearance. To fully ensure that our product will fit your vehicle, it would be a good idea and check the instructions and get underneath...

  • Class III Trailer Hitch Receiver For a 2006 Dodge Grand Caravan With Stow-N-Go Seating
Yes, there is a 2" class III receiver available for your 2006 Dodge Caravan with the Stow-N-Go seating. I recommend the Draw-Tite Max-Frame Trailer Hitch Receiver # 75305. This receiver is rated for 350lbs of tongue weight and 3,500lbs total trailer weight. With a weight distribution hitch ratings are increased to 400lbs of tongue weight and 4,000lbs trailer weight. Be sure to confirm your maximum tow ratings with a Dodge dealer. The Tekonsha T-One Vehicle Wiring Harness # 118300 will...

  • Hitch Recommendation for 2005 Chrysler Town and Country with Stow-N-Go Seating
The Curt Hitch - 2" # 13389 fits 2005-2007 Chrysler Town and Countrys with stow-n-go seating. While we do have other brands that fit your vehicle, we unfortunately do not have any models that install with a hidden crosstube. Those other options are the # C12289, and the # e39KR. All of these options have visible crosstubes. Out of all of these hitches, I recommend going with the # 13389 you were looking at. This is because since it is a 2" hitch, it is compatible with a wider range of...

According to my research the 2007 Dodge Caravan with Stow-N-Go seats has varying towing capacities depending on the version.
