Hidden Cross Tube for a Clean, Factory Look

The EcoHitch Hidden trailer hitch is designed to be as inconspicuous as possible. The hitch's cross tube bolts onto your vehicle's frame, behind your rear bumper. No drilling or welding is required. Once the hitch is installed, only the receiver will be visible beneath your bumper. This means that your vehicle can maintain its stylish, from-the-factory look, and you won't have to do any major modifications to its body or frame.

Eco-Friendly Material

With a combination of aerospace-grade aluminum, steel, and stainless steel, each EcoHitch is made of a strong metal alloy that will withstand the test of time. The lightweight alloy is composed of recycled materials. Traditional steel hitch manufacturing can use coal or oil, which can contribute to harmful gas emissions. The EcoHitch's recycled materials limit the carbon footprint during manufacturing, so you get a sturdy trailer hitch while also helping the environment.

Rigorous Strength Testing Ensures Durability

This EcoHitch trailer hitch is tested for durability and sturdiness. Using Finite Elemental Analysis (FEA), individual points of stress on the hitch can be detected and remedied. Designers can accurately test the hitch to ensure that it will meet or exceed SAE J684 standards. The EcoHitch Hidden trailer hitch is carefully researched and strength tested for a durable, high-quality hitch that can resist damage while on the road.

2012 Honda Civic

The Trailer hitch Receiver was a wonderful addition to my Civic Honda sedan 2012. I had it installed at an Auto repair garage, they did cut a small piece out of the bumper. It's not even noticeable. Last summer (2022) I brought an E-Bike and trailer. I would recommend this item plus the 2" rubber hitch cover #22282Could not be more pleased with both items. Thank you.

No complaints, no problems. Works fine for my trailer that I transport my E-bike on my Honda Civic 2012.

The 2” EcoHitch hidden trailer hitch receiver has worked great for me. I installed it myself on my 2015 Honda Civic LX. I purchased it because I have a 2” bike rack that I wanted to transfer back and forth between my truck and the car without having to use adapters. I purchased it a year ago and it’s held up perfectly. I purchased it from etrailer. I received it very quickly and it was in excellent condition when it arrived. I would highly recommend this trailer hitch and etrailer!

I recently purchased this hitch reciever for my Civic, and I couldn't be more pleased with the entire experience with this company. While my package was delayed by the snow storm, the company made sure that I received my hitch and provided excellent customer service in the process. Now, let's talk about aesthetics - this trailer hitch adds a touch of sophistication to my Civic and looks factory installed. Great product, better company.

2015 Honda Civic

Fit & Finish is a 5 STAR, however, Install is NOT. On my 2015 Civic sedan the back two bolts fished through as advertised. The forward two did not! There was no way that were going to fit. Tech support suggested making the holes larger but that would not solve the problem. I ended up welding the nuts on the washers, feeding them into the frame rail & very carefully threading the bolt from the bottom up into the welded nuts. It serves the same function but adds a lot of time to the install. If two pre welded would be supplied in addition to the standard hardware as well as an explanation as to why they may be necessary the install would have been MUCH SMOOTHER.

by:

Pretty straightforward instilation. Good quality product. I have used and abused it many times over the last year and absolutely zero issues.

by:

A really well made and substantial hitch, but perhaps a bit heavy for the Civic - a 1 1/4" receiver version would be perfect, although some bike racks may need 2".

The installation time estimate was wildly optimistic for my vehicle. Fishing the bolts was very difficult. The key was to thread the fishing tool about half way onto the threaded portion of the bolt, and to pull the bolt through the flat, rectangular washer so that the bolt can be pulled downwards aa an angle through the frame hole. On the 2012 Civic I needed to remove the entire bumper cover. I am an experienced home mechanic and it took approx. 2 1/2 hours to install.

by:

I really like my Ecohitch. I’ve used it many times in the last year and never had a problem. Thanks!

2012 Honda Civic

This hitch went on my 2012 civic about a year ago now. The installation video was an absolute charm in aiding me with installing the hitch. Since then I’ve used this same hitch to tow A LOT, and not once has it ever let me down.

by:

Trailer Hitch was a little difficult to install.
I had to cut my rear lower diffuser.
I have a 2015 Honda Civic Si Sedan.
I will be hauling a Seadoo trixx.

by:

The end result came out great!!! I love how it’s hidden behind the bumper. It looks super clean. I got this hitch so in cab transport my bikes around easier.

Like the fact that I can use my standard 2" ball mounts on this receiver hitch. Video for installation was very helpful.

by:

I have had this hitch for one year. So far so good. Installation was a bit more complicated than expected, but I was able to get it mounted. I have a 2013 Honda Civic coupe. There is supposed to be a center support for this product, but it did not have one. It is only mounted on the sides. However, it appears to be very solid, and I am only using it as a hitch for my bike rack. I only carry one bike that is under 20 lbs. I don't anticipate any issues. I wish they made more 2 inch hitches for small cars, especially with the increase in hitch mounted racks. Overall I am very pleased.

2015 Honda Civic

So far it's holding up on my 2015 Honda Civic well! The installation process was not the easiest, but looks great once it's installed and seems sturdy. I installed it for a hitch bike rack and went with the hidden hitch for a little more tongue weight and also to not effect my ground clearance as much as other hitches.

by:

It works great and looks good when compared to others on the road too. Installing it was a breeze and the video helped with that.

by:

Great receiver. Easy to follow printed instructions. Etrailer video also helped. I prefer the 2 inch hitch option because my bike carrier fits 2inch and can utilize the built in anti-rattle device with out the additional expansion device.

by:
2013 Honda Civic

Great hitch for 2013 Honda Civic. Use it only for bike rack. It carries two mountain bikes well.

by:
2013 Honda Civic

Very solid build. Fits without to much trimming. Definitely will want help installing it, as it is to heavy to put together alone. Instructions weren't great, but its simple enough to figure out. Overall a solid product.

  • Carrying 4 Bikes on Hollywood Racks Sport Rider SE 4 Rack using EcoHitch on 2014 Honda Civic
Although the EcoHitch # 306-X7235 has a 2 inch receiver, the vehicle itself is rated for a Class I hitch with a very limited tongue weight capacity. Because of this limited capacity, all the bike rack manufacturers agree that no more than 2 bikes should be carried on a bike rack installed on a Class I rated vehicle. The # 306-X7235 hitch has a 300 lb tongue weight capacity, which means that the maximum amount of weight the hitch will support is 300 lbs. The Hollywood Racks # HR1400Z-FB...

The correct EcoHitch Hidden Trailer Hitch Receiver for a 2012 Honda Civic Coupe/Sedan is part # 306-X7235. This is an excellent bolt-on option which offers both the larger 2" receiver tube opening and hidden design. That said, because of the hidden design you will have to do some minor trimming of an under body panel behind the rear bumper but this won't be visible from outside the vehicle and it's again very minor. There will be no enlarging of holes in the frame needed though. I have...

In general a hitch-mount bike rack offers some compelling advantages over a trunk-mount type. These include the fact that with a hitch installed on your car you can also use other hitch-mount items such as a hitch cargo carrier. Also, hitch-mount racks do not place any weight load on a car's thin sheet metal, glass or plastic trim components. This rack type also gives you more options in the platform style of carrier which supports the bikes at their wheels. For a hitch, you can choose...
