Draw-Tite's Tested Tough program provides testing standards far superior to those outlined by the Society of Automotive Engineers (SAE), the go-to source for engineering professionals.
Each Draw-Tite trailer hitch receiver undergoes extensive fatigue testing and static testing with the ball mount that is either supplied or recommended for use with that particular hitch, thus ensuring results that are applicable to real life use. Fatigue testing is also conducted on hitches rated for use with weight-distribution systems.
In addition, Draw-Tite performs static testing on a simulated automobile, as opposed to the rigid fixture used for SAE testing, resulting in a more true-to-life scenario.

This fully welded, corrosion-resistant vehicle trailer hitch receiver is perfect for your light-duty towing needs. Draw-Tite's Tested Tough guarantee ensures that this hitch exceeds industry standards. Drawbar sold separately. The hitch and wiring kit arrived on time. Both items fit my application, 2023 Mazda 3 AWD, installation was not that hard for either the Wiring harnes or the hitch. I was able to do both myself, however a helper hand would have been nice. I used a floor jack and jack stands in the driveway. Took about 50 min to get the hitch installed and most of that time was enlarging the holes. Sadly I didn't have a 1" drill bit, I used a stepped drill bit to 3/4" then a grinder ball. If I have a courser ball it would have went faster.
The wiring harness and instructions are good, fit well didn't take much time. the hardest and most time consuming part of the wiring is getting the power from the Battery to the converter. Takes a little planning and looking around underneath to keep away from heat and moving parts and get the wire through and existing penetration and boot. While there was enough of the black wire provided, it was getting close, however the fuse that is added gives you more over all length, so if it is looking close remember you have some extra in the total length. There are a few places to put the ground wire that are already threaded you just need a short bolt.
With all this said, you may wonder why I have only given this 4 stars.
The hitch paint was chipped when it arrived, and corrosion prevention is important to me.
This is the 3rd hitch from etrailer that I have owned the first was already on a car I purchased, and this is the second one that I have purchased, I have been happy with the installation and how well they worked. If I need another I will likely get it from etrailer.
Happy with the final product. Buyer know that you will need to expand holes in the frame so the plates and bolts can fit through the frame. I think mine was a little bent so it took a lot of muscle to get all 4 bolts to line up to the hitch. If I had to do it again, I could probably attach it to the car in half the time knowing what I know now. Ultimately put the hitch on the car, 3 stars. Hitch once it's on the car, 5 stars. Very happy.
Very fast shipping and the hitch was great quality and well priced.
The process started off OK - had the car up on a lift, lowered the exhaust, widened the access holes in the frame rails (btw - highly recommend using a stepper bit for this). Then we bolted the hitch receiver down, making sure to pull it towards the back of the car when doing so in order to make sure it was aligned with the car's frame rails.
Then we lowered it to the ground and the receiver was clearly pointing to the right side of the car. So we raised it back up and pushed the left side towards the front of the car as much as possible when ratcheting the bolts down.
Better (mostly)! Then we took it for a test drive and heard the dreaded rattle. We ended up cutting a bit of the tab away on the left side of the muffler to match the design on the right side and the noise is gone.
2022 Mazda 3 hatchback FWD. PDF instructions are much easier to follow but over all it’s a pretty straightforward process. I did it in about an hour and a half in my driveway. Grinding out the hole was the most time consuming part-everything else went exactly as advertised.
Just a thought- after I was done with the installation I just used a dremel to modify the underbody appearance panel for fit and re installed it. I thought it helped make the bottom edge of the bumper feel more secure.. probably not totally necessary but it is possible to get it back on the car.
Overall very happy with it. It is very non obtrusive when the bike rack is off.
it was not 100% "no cut" installation, a few of the sub frame opening needed to be widen
definitely not a 30-45 min job, more like 2 hours with a lift
that said, the hitch fitted nicely on the car, mine is the AWD model and it fits with no issue
As noted in the Q&A, the hitch fits on vehicles fitted with the appearance package / rear skirt. Thanks, etrailer!
As always, great assembly. Everything was there, the assembly is top notch, and easy to follow instructions. The customer was happy with the install and loaded up her bikes to travel back home.
Fitted this hitch to my Mazda 3 hatch to support a bike rack, love it - had it for a year and so far no issues at all, easy to put the bike rack on whenever I'm going for a ride and remove it when I'm done. Love this thing so far! Only minor issue is that the bumper bangs against the hitch and makes a little extra noise, but nothing I can't live with.
The receiver fit nicely. I have an aftermarket muffler (Magnaflow) that is much smaller than the OEM muffler so there was even more room to work. Two tools that I highly recommend are a step drill to enlarge the holes and a muffler hanger removal tool. I did have access to a lift but it could of easily been done in a driveway. Total time to install was no more than an hour at a leisurely pace.
Great hitch, wasn't the easiest to install but that wasn't really the hitch design mostly the cars frame designs fault, works great to pull small trailers like my seadoo. Overall works great!
It required a little bit of trimming of plastic bumper skirts on a 2021 Mazda 3, but otherwise fit well. Note*. The Mazda 3 isn’t really supposed to be able to use a trailer hitch, but the unibody is virtually unchanged from the previous year and it works fine.
Installation per the instructions was super easy.
The only addition I would make to the instructions is to make a notch in the rear most muffler hanger on the drivers side. After I completed install and drove around a bit I heard a constant tapping of this muffler bracket on the hitch. I notched the muffler bracket using a metal cutting multitool to clear the hitch and this solved the problem, no more tapping.
If the instructions were better I would give 5 stars. Perfect fit, great quality but on a 2022 Mazda 3 hatchback I needed to trim a piece of plastic that supports the bottom of the bumper cover. This wasn’t specified in the directions so I kind thought I may have done something wrong. After trimming the piece it is perfect.
Nice hitch receiver for my 2020 Mazda 3 hatchback and not too bad of a job. The included installation instructions in the box were pretty poor including only one picture which made determining which holes to install the hitch a bit confusing. However, the instructions on the product provided step by step pictures and made the process easier. I was able to install this almost completely by myself within a few hours using jack stands. As the product mentions there is drilling but a step bit did the trick enlarging the access holes (make sure to test that the bolt head can fit through before threading in everything). The hitch does sit a bit inwards so make sure your accessories will fit. My Kuat Sherpa bike rack fit perfectly.
Ordered a hitch for my mazda3. I already had a hitch mount bike rack I was using on another vehicle but needed an adapter to use in the new rack. Ordered the rack and adapter. Within an hour I get an email and phone call from Michelle saying I ordered an adapter that would not work with the hitch I got. She said she would correct the order and get the correct parts out immediately. Within a few days I had the hitch and correct adapter delivered to my house. Customer service like this is second to none. Can’t believe how in tune they are at going beyond what you would expect from an online company. A++++ all around. Highly recommend
Worked perfectly for my my 4th gen mazda 3 hatchback. Use it all the time for bike racks.
This group of folks does a fantastic job of customer service. Great follow up. I fond out they were not listing a hitch for my car (after several calls) and when the mistake on their website became apparent, they corrected it ASAP.
I'll always use them for future hitch needs!!!
Easy install (especially with aftermarket exhaust. No lowering necessary)
Good instructions- FOLLOW them. Make sure you drill holes big enough to fit BOLTS. I make them big enough for spacers only to discover they were not big enough for bolts AFTER I had already threaded wire through! Required very tricky recovery.
Hitch receiver is doing its job well. Found a better way to install - able to avoid drilling and grinding by temporarily removing the rear bumper.
2021 Mazda3 Hatchback 2WD. I opted not to buy ramps I would never need again and it was fine. As others have said, the hardest part was enlarging the hole to fit the carriage bolts through. I ended up using a Dewalt rotary rasp from Lowe’s. Definitely takes two people to actually bolt the hitch on though. I don’t have a torque wrench, so I gave it all the torques. Wear gloves—my hands are all kinds of mangled.
Fits my Kuat rack well.
Perfection! Never have done much with doing things on my car, leave that to the experts. However, heard it was simple enough so I attempted to install the hitch myself. Hardest part is the time it takes to die-drill a hole in the frame. No matter, it worked and was a piece of cake after that. Super durable and appreciate that it's plain black so it blends better. No regrets!
Welds and overall quality seem fine. Professional installer ($165) had no trouble with the install. Used twice now for carrying bicycles, no problems. Only complaint is the welded loops are directly over the hole for the fixing bolt, making the turns to tighten the bolt very short. Using a ratchet is much better than open wrench.
Excellent fit. Took me about 2 hours. Most of the time was spent enlarging the two hardware access holes. Other than that it was a smooth process.
