Installation

This custom-fit T-One connector plugs into your vehicle's wiring harness, which is located inside your rear cargo area, behind the tail lights on both the driver's side and passenger's side. You will need to remove the interior trim panels to access the harness.

Once you've plugged in the T-connector, find the 1-pin housing that is taped to the tail light harness on the driver's side and plug in the 1-pin connector on the T-One. Locate the fuse box under the hood of your vehicle and insert the provided 15-amp fuse into the 20A Trailer location.

Once installation is complete, the 4-way flat connector will be stowed in your cargo area.

It is recommended that you use a small amount of grease on all electrical connections - the plugs on your automobile and the 4-pole connector itself - to help prevent corrosion.

ModuLite Powered Tail Light Converter

A ModuLite power module is built into this T-One connector. Because most trailers run on a two-wire system - wherein the brake and turn signals are carried on one wire - the separate brake and turn signals from your vehicle's three-wire system need to be combined so they are compatible with the wiring system of your trailer. This power module functions as a tail light converter to combine the brake and turn signal functions of your automobile so that they run on one wire to properly activate your trailer's tail lights. Note: This will not affect how the tail lights on your vehicle operate.

With a ModuLite, your trailer's lights will be powered without overloading your vehicle's electrical system. Because the module draws power directly from your car's battery and bypasses the electrical routes that are used by a basic wiring harness, there is virtually no draw on your tail light circuits.

We purchased this for our 2009 Murano LE so that we could tow our boat (we have a single cab truck so with kids it was just impossible). First off the first harness we got was installed no problem just followed right along with the video and all was fine….until the lights were blinking all incorrectly. Long story short here is the deal. I called etrailer and told them what was going on, with no hesitation they put another in the mail. That is customer service. These guys deserve 10 stars but I’m limited to five. The new harness was just fine and we have used it multiple times a week for the entire summer. Not a single issue.

Thank you to etrailer for good products but mostly thank you for going above and beyond with your customer service. You’ve got a customer for life here.

1 year review. We have continued to use this harness with a variety of trailers. It has continued to be flawless after a full year. Just get it. It’s a great purchase.

2011 Nissan Murano

Fit like a glove. Overall quality is excellent. I had already put etrailer hitches on two other vehicles I own. That’s the reason I went back to an etrailer hitch for my 2011 Nissan Murano. If you need a good quality hitch with excellent build quality and proper fit for your vehicle, you certainly can’t go wrong here. I can’t quite make the stars on the rating work right for me. I hope five stars is an excellent rating, because that is what I want to leave.

2014 Nissan Murano

I've installed other trailer wiring harnesses before so this time the installation was easy for me. It took more time to disassemble the panels in the back of my Nissan Murano (for the first time) and put everything back into its proper place than it did to hook up the trailer harness, secure all the parts and install the 15amp fuse in the fuse holder under the hood.

Wiring Harness went well -Worked as expected- Directions for install are correct

Super easy install. Second harness I purchased from ETrailer.

by:

Looks good, all seems to be legit ... unfortunately the trailer I ordered is on back or and I haven't been able to use it yet.

Will write more when I know more.

by:

Harness was plug and play, thankful for the install video as it helped a ton and saved us time getting this hooked up.

Nice looking and very easy install!

This fit my 2013 Nissan marano perfectly. I used an old m12 bolt and cut the threads down the side with a cutoff wheel to clean the threads out. This worked perfectly.

First, ordered this wiring harness on a Monday afternoon and requested 3 days shipping, then my wife called and said we were leaving on vacation Friday at 9am, which meant if my harness didn't ship Monday, it wouldn't be here in time. Called etrailer and
Katherine promised to get my harness to me, followed up that it had been shipped, and followed up again that it had been delivered! Funny thing is, I just attended a seminar at work on the difference between a satisfied customer and and loyal one, and Katherine's superb service and follow-up has not only made me a loyal customer, but I will 100% recommend etrailer.com to anyone looking for car accessories.

Now to my harness. When it arrived I took it to my Murano, sat my laptop in the cargo area and pushed "play" on the installation video. Watched each step, paused the video, and did each step. The video was perfect and showed exactly what needed to come out of the trunk, and the little tricks for removing each piece. In 45 minutes myself and my 6 year old son had it perfectly installed and it works flawlessly, so glad I didn't give the Nissan dealer almost $300 to do the same thing!!

I would have attached a pic of the installed harness, but It's 100% hidden, just the way I wanted it.

Thanks again etrailer!!

Yes, this kit is confirmed as a fit for your 2013 Nissan Murano, as long as it is not the CrossCabriolet version. I have included a link to our confirmed products that fit a 2013 Murano for your reference.

Great service, received the hitch and the wiring harness sooner then expected.
They were the correct parts.
I read the reviews and tried to install the hitch without removing the muffler. It worked but you do need an extension for you socket set. The best part if installing were the videos that showed every step you needed to do. It made it simple.
The wiring harness went in easily and clipped as advertised. I would suggest they add a second self-tapping screw to mount the adapter and several ty-wraps to cinch down the wires coming across from the passenger side.
Over all, It was simple to install and looks and works great.

It works so well I dont think about it. Like factory install. No problems. Great product!

2013 Nissan Murano

Courtney B in customer service was great, she even confirmed my order was delivered! Ordered the 87486 Hidden Hiitch with the T-One 118653 wiring harness for my 2013 Murano. Was delivered in 3 days. I chose this Harness because the max amp rating was the highest for my vehicle. Both pieces fit perfect, the videos were extremely helpful and made me confident I could do the install myself. The Harness directly connects to all factory wiring as shown in the video, the most difficult part is removing the interior panels. Which is not even that hard as it is shown in great detail in the etrailer video. It is a well built product with a custom fit for the Murano, if you need a Harness, this is the one!!

Harness is well designed, works flawlessly

Ordered hitch to match car (year, model etc). Added [other] wiring to order, wiring sent was for later model, had to reorder & repurchase and could not return wrong harness. Paul responded quickly, received harness quickly. Had to have hitch professionally installed. $xxx extra cost after purchase of hitch and harness.

by:

The wiring harness looked perfectly intact and properly installed according to the video provided, but when it was time to finally use the product and connected to the lighting of a trailer it didn't work. It's been 2 years since I have ever needed it for the job is needed and I was using a Uhaul Trailer. I needed to inform a buyer that I wasn't able to ship their item to them and lost a potential client. I definitely would recommend if it functions immediately and not wait several year before realizing it never worked in the beginning.

I recommend troubleshooting with the harness before considering the harness defective. With trailer unplugged from the harness you can check the ground and test the light functions with a circuit tester. This will be the quickest way to determine if it on the vehicle side or the trailer side. And proceed from there. We have a FAQ that can help.

2010 Nissan Murano

The harness arrived and fit perfectly in my wife’s 2009 Nissan Murano. This Murano has the power socket already in the back as well as the trailer fuse slot in its fuse box, so there was no stringing wire under the car and to the battery. The install procedure was essentially identical to the 2010 Murano video.

Very easy. It was harder to reset the car’s rubber door gasket if than to install the wiring. It took about 1.5 hours this first time but I could do it in 30 minutes next time.

Installation was a breeze and it worked fine, however have not towed anything since.

by:

quick delivery, great price. What can I say it's a wiring harness. I will do more business with etrailer in the future based on this order since it is the first time I have ordered anything of this nature and I am very satisfied with my experience. My rating of etrailer is EXCELLENT. Everything went exactly as described in the video. Thank you etrailer.

I wanted to thank you again for the quality of items you have. The item was easy to order and install. There’s so much stuff you carry that I’d love to order but I know where to go when I need to order. Thank you again. It’s nice to have a trailer hitch to pull whatever I need. You won’t be disappointed with your purchase.

I’m still very happy with the trailer hitch I bought and installed. It has helped me in many instances. It’s great to be able to connect to my trailer any time I need to instead of asking someone else for help. Thank you again.

Very easy to install. Basically just plug into vehicles wiring harness.

by:
2009 Nissan Murano

Very simple instructions for the wiring kit. Took only 20 minutes to install after watching the video. Suggest routing trailer connection end through existing rubber grommet to keep wiring near trailer hitch just under the vehicle.

The manufacturer specifically designed this particular harness so the connector would be deployed from the interior of the vehicle when needed. This way, the connector is protected from damage when its not being used. The rear hatch of your vehicle has weatherstipping thats thick enough that the wire for the trailer connector wont be damaged as long as you avoid the latch area. You can certainly install the harness as you described, but the connector will be exposed to the elements.

We really like the products. We used the trailer to put our things on for a family vacation last summer and everything was great! We have recommended your company to a few friends who are interested in buying a hitch for their car and or a carrier. Thank you for taking the time to write and check in.

2012 Nissan Murano

Easy install for the most part...I did have to use my own self-tapping screw in the vehicle; this kit had a REALLY short screw...maybe 1/4" long, so anything worthy of a ground is thick metal through sheet metal in the cargo area of a '12 Murano. Still, it's plug-n-play on the rest. Instructions were pretty easy to read. Some minor tool skills will be needed, but not much more than that. All connectors were there to connect between the tail harnesses and I mounted the signal booster box under cargo storage. I did use a couple more plastic wire ties beyond the two tiny ones the kit had to properly stow the wires. The harness 4-pin connection is supposed to run across the rear hatch seal, which I don't particularly like, but is sufficient. I will be running the harness with a 4-pin harness extension through a rubber grommet/boot in the forward cargo storage under-floor area (rear cargo) on the driver's side so I can mount it direct to the hitch without digging this thing out every time. Otherwise, I fixed a problem on the trailer side when nothing worked (checked power with a multimeter on my side and all was working). There are two fuses supplied, so make sure you install them both (on the harness and one under the hood in the driver's side fusebox). It did take a little time for the harness to come in, as well. Recommended product...especially for the price! No problems and have used for quite awhile now. I debated on buying the more expensive choice as I know how cheaper can net some...interesting--or not compatible--results at times, but glad I went with this one. Cheers, and thanks!

Like others, I was able to install the hitch fairly quickly without dropping the muffler. That does require a socket extension. Some blocking too hold up one end of the hitch while fastening the other end to the frame is also required. As another reviewer noted, the hitch side which attaches where the tow hook is removed didn't line up exactly. I tried to spread it in place with a pneumatic spreader without success. Could have removed it and banged it out with a sledge hammer but decided that the two 12M bolts I was able to place on that side would be adequate and I might weaken a weld joint by banging it out. Took far longer to hook up the wiring than I thought it would, but I was also aiming for a factory-install look - zip ties everywhere, running the power wire under the driver-side rear storage compartment, etc. I would have liked a little more length on the wires leading to the 4-pin connector. It only reached to the receiver after I fastened the wiring "junction box" to the car body underneath the driver-side tail light. A drop hitch in the receiver could require longer wires on the trailer side. Could have done with less length in the wiring going across to the passenger-side tail light. Working the power wire to the engine compartment without a car lift wouldn't have been possible if I'd eaten lunch - not a lot of clearance under a Murano! I ran the wire along what I believe were brake lines. A straightened coat hanger with nylon cord and a person looking down from above the engine compartment to grab things as I passed them up from beneath worked well. While I was somewhat disappointed with the hole for the 10M bolt not lining up with the car frame, I believe the whole package is well worth the cost and would never pay what was being asked for the OEM alternative.

  • Does a Trailer Wiring Harness Power Wire have to Connect to Battery on 2012 Nissan Murano
For a wiring harness that requires a direct connection to the battery, like # 118653, for the 2012 Nissan Murano, the harness will not work unless the battery connection is made. The trailer lights get their power from the battery so if not connected the trailer lights will not work. The harness has not been tested for any other connection and is not rated to connect anywhere but the battery. Connecting it anywhere else, since not tested, would end up voiding the harness warranty. Routing...
