  • Transmission Cooler Installation Tips for a 1994 Mercury Grand Marquis LS
  • The Derale Series 8000 Plate-Fin Transmission Cooler Kit, # D13503, would be a great choice for your 1994 Mercury Grand Marquis, as long as there is room in front of the radiator and ac condenser for the cooler to mount. Measure to be sure before purchasing, but most likely you will have plenty of room. The best tip I can give is to do some research on your vehicle. Check the radiator fittings and see if there are NPT (national pipe thread) fittings or Inverted flare fittings. Your vehicle...

  • Can a 2008 Mercury Milan With Class I Hitch Tow a 16 Foot Tracker Boat
  • It sounds like you have a Class I hitch like the Curt Trailer Hitch Receiver # C11329 on your 2008 Mercury Milan. A Class I hitch like this will have a maximum gross trailer weight of 2,000 lbs and tongue weight of 200 lbs. You will also need to know the towing capacity of your vehicle and will be limited by whichever is lower. Assuming the weight of your boat and boat trailer do not exceed the capacity of your vehicle or hitch, you will be able to tow it.

  • Do Body Panels have to be Removed to Install a Trailer Hitch on a 2008 Mercury Grand Marquis
  • You should not have to remove any body panels to install Curt trailer hitch # 13707 on your 2008 Mercury Grand Marquis. I have included a link to the installation instructions and a video showing installation for you to view. If you plan on doing some towing I recommend etrailer ball mount kit # EBMK4EL. It comes with an extra long ball mount (a long ball is required on this vehicle due to the position of the hitch), interchangeable ball set, hitch pin with clip, and a storage bag. For...

  • How Does the Trailer Wiring Harness # HM11140395 Install on a 2010 Mercury Milan Premier
  • Installation of the trailer wiring harness # HM11140395 is fairly straight forward. The main connections from the harness connect in line with the tail light wiring on the vehicle. The converter will be grounded to a bare metal surface or existing ground location. The only real time-consuming part is routing the power wire to the vehicle battery. If your battery happens to be in the trunk or even under the backseat, this is not very difficult. Most cars and trucks have the battery under...

  • Is There Anywhere to Avoid when Drilling Roof of 2005 Mercury Mariner to Mount Roof Rack Tracks
  • If your 2005 Mercury Mariner has side curtain air bags then you will want to install tracks # THTP54 further in (towards the middle) on the vehicle roof to avoid interference. The wiring for things like the dome light are more or less in the center of the vehicle so you would not worry about that unless you wanted to put tracks in the middle of the roof. To avoid drilling you could use a custom roof rack using the following parts: CrossBars # INB137 Feet # INSUT Fit Kit # INK193

  • Troubleshooting Trailer Left Side Turn Signal Not Working with 2004 Mercury Monterey
  • The intermittent function of the left side turn signal on your trailer with the Curt T-Connector Wiring Harness # C56673 installed on does sound like the result of a loose connection or a bad/weak ground. The first thing I recommend doing is using a circuit tester like # PTW2993 to test the 4-Way connector on the Monterey. Test each pin while you have a buddy run through the light functions in the van. If all the pins receive appropriate power with the corresponding light function activated...

  • The Correct 4-Pole Hardwire Wiring Kit and Installation Instructions for a 2004 Mercury Sable
  • The 4-Pole Hardwire Kit, # 20250 is similar to the product you need but it is not quite the right one. The wiring harness for your 2004 Mercury Sable is Draw-Tite Wiring, # 18252. (If your trailer has additional lighting requirements you may need to use the Upgraded Circuit Protected Modulite with 4 Pole Harness and Hardwire Kit, # 119178KIT, to handle the added power draw from the vehicle.) This wiring harness will need to be spliced into your vehicles existing taillight wiring. I have...

  • How to Install a 4 Pole to 5 Pole Adapter for Adding a Reverse Light Circuit
  • The extra wire on a 4 Pole to 5 Pole adapter like part # 20036, will connect to one of the two wires running to the reverse light bulb. You can use either the passenger or the driver side, it makes no difference. In order to determine which wire you need to splice into, you will either need to use a circuit tester, like part # PTW2993, or since there is only two wires you can just go by trial and error. You need to find the wire that goes hot or active when you put the Mariner into reverse....

  • Can a Trailer Hitch Be Installed on a 1997 Mercury Sable by a Mechanic
  • I recommend the Curt Class II 1-1/4 Inch Hitch, part # C12232, for your 1997 Mercury Sable. This hitch has a maximum gross trailer weight capacity of 3,500 lbs and a tongue weight capacity of 300 lbs. You will need the recommended ball mount, part # C45522 and will also need a hitch ball like the Tow Ready 2 Inch Hitch Ball, part # 19258, For a wiring harness, you will use the # C55343 if you have a Wagon and # HM40565 if you have a sedan. I am including a link to the installation instructions...

  • How to Test a 4-Way Trailer Wiring Harness Plug
  • You are testing correctly for the left and right turn signals, but the 3rd female plug you are testing is the taillight circuit. If you turn on the running lights you should get 12 volt power at the connection that the brown wire runs into. To test the brake lights at the trailer connector you need to apply the brakes and test the connectors that the green and yellow wires go into. These are the same connections that you tested for the turn signals. Trailer wiring combines the left turn/brake...

  • Where To Install Manual Air Inflation Valves From Firestone Coil-Rite Air Helper Springs # F4107
  • On the Firestone Coil-Rite Air Helper Springs - Rear Kit, part # F4107, the inflation valves need to be installed in a protected area that is easily accessible. You might check inside the trunk area to see if there is a place where the inflation valve can be installed. You will need to drill a 5/16 inch hole for the inflation valve. If you drill a hole in the trunk area I would recommend to use a sealer when installing the valve to keep exhaust fumes and debris from entering the trunk area. If...

  • Should Rusted Trailer Hitch Receiver be Replaced
  • The Curt trailer hitch receiver for your 1997 Mercury Sable is the Class II # C12232. If the rust can be sanded off and the hitch repainted, then it is likely still structurally sound. The best way to have them evaluated is to have a trailer shop inspect them. I would err on the side of caution and replace the hitch if you don't feel comfortable using it. If the hardware needs to be replaced, you can use # RHK then select c12232 as the model number and purchas the kit, then purchase...

  • Is Spare Tire Removal Necessary for Curt Class III Hitch Part 13650 on a Mercury Mariner
  • I reviewed the installation instructions for Curt Class III Hitch, part 13650, and spare tire removal is not mentioned. I have added a link to the instructions below for you to review as well as a link to a basic pin and clip, part # PC3, and a basic hitch lock, part # e98880.

  • Where Does Hopkins Trailer Wiring Harness HM40915 Plug in on a 1999 Mercury Mountaineer
  • On 1999 Mercury Mountaineers that came with a factory tow package the connector you need will be the one on the passenger's side of the vehicle. Of course if it doesn't work you can try the other one you found. Wiring harness # HM40915 and ones like are meant as replacements for the factory trailer connector on models that have the factory tow package. If your Mountaineer did not come with the factory tow package you will need a different harness, # 118345.

  • Trailer Hitch Receiver to Fit a 1995 Mercury Sable that Doesnt Require Drilling
  • The Curt trailer hitch receiver that fits the 1995 Mercury Sable is part # C12232 and it does not require any drilling to install it. The hitch you looked at, part # C11207, does not fit the Sable at all. It actually fits the Honda Civic and Acura EL from the late 1990s. With the correct # C12232 hitch you also need to add a ball mount. The recommended one is part # C45522 with either the 2 inch hitch ball # C40018 or the 1-7/8 inch hitch ball # C40001. You also need a pin and clip,...

  • Is there Drilling Required to Install a Curt Hitch on a 2006 Mercury Monterey Van
  • Sometimes there is drilling required to install this Curt Hitch # C12187 on your 2006 Mercury Monterey. With this hitch sometimes the vehicles frame holes don't line up for the hitch to attach to so you have to enlarge the hole to compensate for that. Check out the installation instructions I attached that show that basically all you will need to do is lower the exhaust, fishwire a few bolts and then tighten the hitch to spec. Drilling isn't shown as it wasn't required for the install. As...

  • Why Cant I Put Tow Vehicle in Reverse While Connected to RV with Roadmaster Invisibrake Installed
  • First of all you're correct, that isn't the normal way to connect a tow vehicle to a motorhome and I don't recommend it since that isn't how the tow bar or base plates are designed to be used. Instead you should connect them and then drive the motorhome forward making an S curve, when possible, to lock the tow bar's arms. But I think you already know this. I looked up your order and you're using the Roadmaster Invisibrake, part # RM-8700, and the Roadmaster Brake-Lite Relay, part # RM-88400....

  • Recommended Class III Trailer Hitch Receiver That is Most Hidden on a 2004 Mercury Marquis
  • We carry two Class III trailer hitch receivers that will fit your 2004 Mercury Grand Marquis. A Curt, # 13707, and a Draw-Tite, # 41116. Both of them are basically the same style and the only thing you'll see under the car's bumper is the receiver opening and safety chain loops. Between the two I recommend the Curt because it has a little higher weight capacity than the Draw-Tite. But for appearance purposes they'll basically be the same.
