Is there Drilling Required to Install a Curt Hitch on a 2006 Mercury Monterey Van

Question:

This hitch shows 3 bolt holes each side. Is drilling required for any of the bolts? I see only side bolt hole openings in the van. Is any part of the hitch or cross bar visible once installed. Or is only the reciever opening visible?

Sometimes there is drilling required to install this Curt Hitch # C12187 on your 2006 Mercury Monterey. With this hitch sometimes the vehicles frame holes don't line up for the hitch to attach to so you have to enlarge the hole to compensate for that. Check out the installation instructions I attached that show that basically all you will need to do is lower the exhaust, fishwire a few bolts and then tighten the hitch to spec. Drilling isn't shown as it wasn't required for the install.

As for visibility of the hitch, you will basically only see the hitch opening. The cross bar will be out of plain sight. Check out the picture I attached that shows a similar hitch as this one installed on a vehicle similar as yours.
