Where Does Hopkins Trailer Wiring Harness HM40915 Plug in on a 1999 Mercury Mountaineer
Question:
Is it possible for the mercury Mountaineer 1999 have 2 plugs. Under the rear bumper there is 1 on each side. Can I use either one of these?

On 1999 Mercury Mountaineers that came with a factory tow package the connector you need will be the one on the passenger's side of the vehicle. Of course if it doesn't work you can try the other one you found.
Wiring harness # HM40915 and ones like are meant as replacements for the factory trailer connector on models that have the factory tow package. If your Mountaineer did not come with the factory tow package you will need a different harness, # 118345.
