On your 2023 Mazda CX-5 there are screw holes located underneath the trim piece that runs front to back on either side of the roof. The Rhino-Rack fit kit uses these for fixed mounting points to keep the rack secure. For a complete rack you will need the following:
-Rhino-Rack Vortex Aero Crossbars # RRVA118B-2
-RCL Legs for Rhino-Rack Crossbars # RRRCL4
-Custom RCP Fit Kit for 4 Rhino-Rack RC and RV Series Roof Rack Legs # RRRCP48-BK

Although the recent CX-5s may have a power source bus in the hatch area you will want to run the wire for power to the battery.
The Tekonsha T-One # 118746 is a new kit for 2017+ Mazda CX-5s which Tekonsha designed specifically for your vehicle. Since both Tekonsha and Curt (for the Kit # C56377) say that you need to route the power wire directly to the battery that is the best route to go. After routing the wire up to the battery you need to install the included fuse and connect it to... view full answer...
Yes, the trailer wiring kits that fit your 2016 Mazda CX-5 like the Curt # C56310 that you referenced do require running the power wire up to the vehicle battery. This is true for all kits that fit your vehicle as well as taillight configurations. view full answer...
According to my research there should be a white/black wire going into your left and right backup lights on your 2016 Mazda CX 5 GT. You should be able to just splice into them to get the reverse light function for the Universal Wiring Kit # ETBC7 but I recommend using the included circuit tester to make sure that the does carry the reverse light function before splicing. view full answer...
Since you have a 7-Way you will only need a few more components to complete a brake controller install on your vehicle.
For a wiring kit to install the brake controller and the 7-way adapter you would want the Wiring Kit for 2 and 4 Brake Electric Brake Controllers # 5506. This will provide the power source and ground for the wiring for the brake controller. You will need to test the wires from the brake pedal switch of your vehicle to find a circuit that has voltage when the brakes are... view full answer...
I don't think I have actually seen anyone put the molding back on after removing it. The fixed mounting points were specifically designed to have a roof rack added on, so they are sealed and will not leak or anything. You technically could alter them to get them reinstalled, but it really isn't necessary to do so and will probably be more trouble than it's worth. view full answer...
The Yakima FullTilt 5 Bike Rack - 1-1/4" and 2" Hitches - Tilting, part # Y02463, is designed to fit five bikes, but whether they can be fit comfortably on the rack depends on the bikes you will be carrying. This rack will be able to easily fit kids bikes with a wheel size of 24". This rack may not be able to fit 20" bikes safely and it will not safely transport anything kid's bike with 20" wheels or smaller. If you have a bike with a step thru frame you will need to use the Yakima Tube... view full answer...
The hitch you need will depend on if your CX-5 has a Diesel or Gas engine.
For the gasser, use the Draw-Tite # 76138 or # DR44FR for the Diesel. The installation procedure for both is in the middle of the spectrum difficulty-wise with the # 76138 being a bit easier. If you're fairly handy and know which end of the screwdriver is which, I'm confident you'll be able to handle it. Really the only specialized tool you'll need is a torque wrench and if you don't have one you can borrow one... view full answer...
The short answer is maybe.
In most cases, meaning with most tow vehicles, the # FR87PR power adapter isn't needed. If you have a newer model Chevy vehicle with a factory 7-way and you're using an RV camera system like the Vision S, part # FOS05TASF, the adapter is required to provide enough power. Additionally, if you have a different vehicle and the observation camera system works fine with the vehicle off but quits when the vehicle is started then the adapter should solve that issue as well. view full answer...
I can confirm for you that each of the trailer hitches that fit a 2019 Mazda CX-5 absolutely fit your Grand Touring model. The best option is going to be a Class III model with a 2 inch receiver, and the fits are:
- Draw-Tite Max-Frame Trailer Hitch Receiver # 76138
- Curt Trailer Hitch Receiver # C13315
- etrailer.com Trailer Hitch Receiver # e98902
Of these three, I really like the Draw-Tite because of its quality and the fact it has the highest-rated capacities at 4,500 lbs towing... view full answer...
The most direct route to run trailer wiring power wires for harness # 118564 on your 2016 Mazda CX-5 is to follow along a frame rail (there are likely other wires or lines you can wire tie the power wire to). Avoid any areas that might pinch or burn the wire such as suspension, exhaust, and engine components.
I actually wrote a help article which I have linked for you that has tips for routing the power wire including a few different methods. view full answer...
To answer your first question, yes, you would be able to install wiring after you have put in Draw-Tite # 76138. In regards to your second question, the answer is it depends on the harness. For example, Curt T-Connector # C56377 is a confirmed fit for your 2017 Mazda CX-5, and it could be installed without drilling. view full answer...
After a trailer wiring harness is installed on your 2016 Mazda CX-5, you will only pull out the harness from inside the cargo area when needed. When not in use it is stored in the cargo area of the vehicle. For a harness I recommend # 118563. I have linked a video showing an example installation for you.
If you want to run it outside of the vehicle and permanently mount it on the exterior it will require routing the 4-Way end through the bottom of the cargo area. Look for a grommet that... view full answer...
We haven't had complaints about using the included adhesive backing on level set # HM08525. If you do go with a different double-sided tape be sure to completely remove the existing adhesive. I do not foresee there being a problem but there is one thing that could cause anything that uses adhesive to loosen: heat. With a high enough temperature for a long enough period of time the adhesive will become more fluid and that could cause them to slip. view full answer...
The Draw-Tite Max-Frame Trailer Hitch Receiver part # 76138 is an excellent option 2016 Mazda CX-5. In regards to installation, you will need to lower part of the exhaust but this is required for all trailer hitches for this vehicle. I know this may sound concerning but it's actually super easy and you won't need any special tools.
I recommend spraying down the rubber isolaters which are the rubber oval shaped parts which attach to the metal hangers with some lubricant first. Once done,... view full answer...
When installing the Curt Echo Mobile part # C51180 using the 7-way adapter kit part # ETBC7L what you can do is have the center pin of the 7-way be your additional 12 volt circuit for the trailer wiring. You'd just need to run a second 10 gauge wire ( # 10-1-1) and breaker like part # 9510 to the center pin of the 7-way on the trailer and vehicle side and you'd be good. view full answer...
The Curt Trailer Hitch Receiver part # C13315 is a confirmed fit for your 2019 Mazda CX-5 Grand Touring Reserve. I confirmed this with my contact at Curt. In regards to installation, how many of the exhaust hangers did you remove? If you just removed the rear two exhaust hangers then that might be why you cannot maneuver the trailer hitch up into place as you will need to remove all four hangers in order to drop the muffler low enough to slide the trailer hitch into place. Also, there is... view full answer...
I did add a diagram that should be helpful although as of right now we have not yet had a chance to made a video showing the Kat's Custom Engine Block Heater # KH11409 being installed on a 2015 Mazda CX-5.
After checking out the instructions for this block heater I was able to find that you will need to insert this Frost-Plug heater into the "LR" position of your Mazda's engine, as you can see in the diagram.
All you need to do is remove that frost plug and insert the heater; I've also... view full answer...
I don't have specific instructions for the power wire but when routing a power wire for a powered converter like the part # C56310 the key is to route the wire away from any moving parts or exhaust that would get too hot and melt the wiring.
If you can run the wire down a frame rail that would be ideal since that would protect the wiring somewhat.
I attached a help article that covers how to route the power wire for a converter. view full answer...
The Curt T-Connector Vehicle Wiring Harness with 4-Pole Flat Trailer Connector # C56377 will always be connected to a battery so it will be "on" in the same way that everything else that is connected to the battery of your 2019 Mazda CX-5 is "on." That said, there are no negative effects, problems, or issues whatsoever with it being connected to your Mazda's battery.
The only problems that will arise are from attempting to power the connector from anything but a direct hot lead to the... view full answer...
