Can Wiring Harness be Installed After Hitch on 2017 Mazda CX-5?
Question:
Hi, I have a 2017 Mazda CX-5 Grand Touring. Im purchasing a Draw-Tite 76138, and have also got the pin/clip and stabilization pin in my cart. Im gong to be using this for a bike rack, not planning on towing any trailers, but you never know. So I have two questions about the wiring aspect, in the eventuality that I someday want to pull a small trailer: 1 Can the wiring be easily done at some later point, when the hitch has already been in use? Or is it recommended that it be done at the time of the original installation? 2 This is a leased vehicle. Would wiring involve and permanent changes i.e. drilling holes, because Im not allowed to do anything like that. I understand there's a piece of plastic trim that has to be removed for the hitch receiver, but that can be put back on when I have the hitch removed at the end of the lease term. Many thanks for your guidance!

To answer your first question, yes, you would be able to install wiring after you have put in Draw-Tite # 76138. In regards to your second question, the answer is it depends on the harness. For example, Curt T-Connector # C56377 is a confirmed fit for your 2017 Mazda CX-5, and it could be installed without drilling.
