The Curt Trailer Hitch Receiver part # CU64FR is going to be very similar to the Draw-Tite Max-Frame Trailer Hitch Receiver part # 76182 which are both fits for a 2017 Subaru Forester. In regards to the Draw-Tite, the distance from the ground to the top inside edge of the receiver tube is 16" and the distance from the center of the hitch pin hole to the rear edge of the bumper is 3". These measurements are going to be very similar if not the same as the Curt hitch.
That said, as these... view full answer...
To attach a set of crossbars to the rails on your 2024 Subaru Forester, I recommend the Yakima TimberLine FX Roof Rack for Raised Side Rails item # Y48UV.
This crossbar system has a 165 lbs capacity and does not extend over the sides of the mounting legs. I recommend adding the Yakima Same Key System item # Y07204 to help prevent theft.
A great perk of Yakima's products is you can buy larger lock core kits 6 item # Y07206 or 8 item # Y07208 and have the roof rack and other Yakima accessories... view full answer...
You are correct that there is a bit of a difference in the trailer hitch. The Curt Class III Trailer Hitch # C13144 for your 2016 Subaru Forester has undergone a change in the length of the receiver tube. This is the difference you noted in the photos. Originally when we took our photos of this hitch, the receiver length of the hitch was 8 inches, but the receiver length was later increased to 11 inches.
I went out to the warehouse to look at the # C13144 hitches that we have in stock,... view full answer...
We do have a few options for you to choose from. I recommend going with an aluminum carrier because they are much lighter than a steel cargo carrier.
The Curt # C18100 is a 19x60 carrier that weighs in at 29 lbs and has inside dimensions of 60" long x 19-1/8" wide x 2-3/4" tall. This carrier also has a folding feature for extra rear clearance when you aren't carrying anything. A hitch pin and clip like part # PC3 are sold separately.
This carrier has a 500 lb weight limit and installs... view full answer...

The only j-style kayak carriers available with the capacity you'd need is the Rhino Rack part # S512 which has a weight capacity of 99 lbs. Only problem is that none of the roof racks we offer for your Forester are going to be rated for the weight of two 85 lb kayaks like yours since they are all limited to 150 lbs.
Best solution we'd have is to tow the Yakima Rack and Roll trailer part # Y08106 which has a 250 lb capacity and install the Rhino Rack kayak carrier # S512 on it. I realize... view full answer...

I have a 1-1/4" hitch available for your 2021 Subaru Forester but the only etrailer house brand hitch we have ever had for your Subaru is item # e83ZR. We've never made 1-1/4" hitches only 2" ones.
To add a 1-1/4" hitch to your Forester you will want the Curt Trailer Hitch item # C12198 you were looking at. This hitch is custom fit and bolts to your Subaru with included hardware. view full answer...
The recommended crossbar spread for the Inno Gravity Ski and Snowboard Carrier # INA951 is 29-1/2 inches but the reason there isn't a specific number or range given is because it depends somewhat on the length of your boards since this has to attach to them. view full answer...

That's a good question and the trailer hitch that has the best bumper clearance (and ground clearance!) for your 2021 Subaru Forester is from EcoHitch:
- EcoHitch Hidden Trailer Hitch Receiver # 306-X7391
When we installed this hitch on a 2021 Forester we found that it was 3 inches from the center of the hitch pin hole to the edge of the rear bumper, and also measures about 13 inches from the ground to the bottom of the hitch, which is the best clearance.
The ground clearance will give... view full answer...

Happy to help! Your dilemma is a common one. The etrailer Hitch item # e83ZR has a tongue weight that is rated higher than your 2020 Subaru Forester's. Hitch manufacturers do this because of the hitch fitting other models or even vehicles with a higher capacity. You always want to refer to your vehicle's capacity though. The easiest way to confirm what your Forester's capacity is is to have a local dealership run your VIN. view full answer...
