Hey David, unfortunately the dimensions you have are not compatible with current hub/drums. The outer bearing dimension being less than .99 inch is the giveaway as nothing at this time has that diameter. This is pretty common for axles as old as what you have now.
Best option is going to be an all new axle which would require knowing the axle capacity needed, the distance between the spring seats of your axle, and then distance from hub face to hub face. view full answer...
The # L44649 we can supply but we do not carry a grease seal that matches those measurements. The closest thing we have is the # 34823 which has a 1.249" ID. It might hold up but with the larger ID it is likely it will leak. Those measurements aren't common so I'm don't think you will be able to find it anywhere outside of a custom seal manufacturer. view full answer...
Hey Dave,
To switch over to oil bath you'll want to clean out the hub and spindle to remove any leftover grease and then you can just replace the bearings and grease seal. You can check if the part numbers are still stamped into the face of the bearings and grease seal or measure the spindle with a digital caliper # PTW80157 at points B, C, and D on the diagram below to get the inner diameters. For the outer diameters you'll need to measure the bore hole of the hub.
Once you know your... view full answer...
I do see the NAPA seal 17144 matches the dimensions of the Grease Seal # 58846. Since you are using a Bearing Buddy you are going to want to use one of their seal sets. The seal this size is typically in combination with a Inner Bearing # L68149 which will use the Seal Set # BB60002. This seal set is designed to be used in combination with a Bearing Buddy as it is capable of holding the pressure it creates. view full answer...
Hi Jerry,
So we don't have any seals or bearings with the measurement you provided, and bearings and seals do require a really precise measurement with a digital caliper. I know that's a pain but it really is the only way to get the right replacements.
Or you can also try and take apart your current hub assembly and look at the bearings themselves; wipe away the grease and you may be able to see the part number stamped directly on them. If you are unable to find them, you need to use... view full answer...
Hi Gene,
We may have a hub for you, though I'm not 100% sure if you are referencing the grease seal or bearing when you say it is tapered from 1-3/4" to 1-1/4". The issue here is that there isn't any standard hub that uses a grease seal with a 1.750" inner diameter and tapers to 1.250".
And hubs that have a 1.750" inner bearing and 1.250" outer bearing are all 6 lugs, such as the Trailer Idler Hub Assembly # AKIHUB-655-6-K so none with the bolt pattern you have. To find the right hub,... view full answer...
Hey Marty,
There unfortunately isn't a guide to tell us the part numbers used on your trailer so I'll need you to take a couple of measurements to get you the correct parts. You'll want to start by lifting one side of the trailer by the frame and letting the axles hang. With the wheel off you can measure the length from center to center of the leaf spring eyelets.
To find the right bearings and grease seal you'll need to remove the hub and check if the bearing and grease seal numbers... view full answer...
Hey Steve,
To replace your hub we'll need to first determine the bearings and seals that fit your spindle. You can look at the face of the bearings and grease seal to see if there's a part number stamped into them still otherwise you'll need to use a digital caliper # PTW80157 and measure points B, C, and D from the guide below.
18" wheels are pretty large for this axle capacity so you might have some clearance issues with the fenders or body of the trailer using this size. Truck tires... view full answer...
More information will be required to find the right grease seal. I would also use a digital caliper like # PTW80157 to get a precise measurement. To find the inner diameter of the grease seal you can measure the spindle where the seal sits. See the diagram below. Once you have the inner and outer diameter you can use the link below too all of our seals to filter down and find the right replacement assuming one is available.
Since the trailer is from 1976 it is highly likely the seal is... view full answer...
Hey Matthew, so we know your 2009 Forest River Wildcat would have an axle capacity of between 5.2k and 7k so the grease seal is going to have an outer diameter of 3.376 inch but it could have one of two inner diameters. If its 2.125 inch you'd need the part # GS-2125DL or if that dimension is instead 2.25 inch you'd need # RG06-070.
We don't have a way to know for sure what inner diameter seal you'd need though so only option is to measure. view full answer...
Hey Mike, thanks for reaching out!
I'm pretty sure your boat trailer has a 3,500 lbs axle which means you should need the Grease Seal # TMK58ZR which has a 1.719" ID and a 2.565" OD - you'll want to verify this on your end.
I don't know what O-Ring sits behind your cap but if you can give me some dimensions I can see if we have one for you. view full answer...
The bearing combination on your trailer is obsolete so there are no hubs that will fit. The best solution would be to replace the axle that has a spindle with a modern bearing combination. You will need to measure the hub face distance (length) to find a replacement. We have the following available:
-Trailer Axle with Idler Hubs - 5 on 4-1/2 Bolt Pattern - 60" Long - 2,000 lbs # e82GR for 13" to 15" wheels
-Trailer Axle with Idler Hubs - 5 on 4-1/2 Bolt Pattern - 60" Long - 2,000 lbs... view full answer...
Hey Bruce, thanks for writing in, and unfortunately you have what is called a stub spindle, and it's 3 inch length won't allow you to use the Trailer Idler Hub Assembly for 2,000-lb Axles - 4 on 4 - Galvanized # AKIHUB-440-2-G-1K.
There isn't a hub we have that can fit onto that short of a spindle, so the best thing we can offer is to replace the spindle with one that will work for you, the BT8 Spindle for 2,000-lb Trailer Axles # TRU94FR.
I fully realize that's a pain and not what you... view full answer...
I googled the grease seal number you mentioned and I did find some options online but when I looked up the size it wasn't one that we carry a suitable replacement for.
For a coupler solution though you could use the Dexter part # T1607500 which you'd want to weld to the top of your trailer frame. It was not designed to fit over a frame channel so your width being wider than usual wouldn't be a factor. view full answer...
Oliver, to find out what replacement hubs you'll need you will need to measure your spindle where the bearings and grease seals ride, your axle capacity (which should be stamped on the axle itself) and wheel bolt pattern.
Since these measurements need to be within a thousandth of an inch, you're going to need to use a caliper for the most accurate possible measurement.
With this info we be able to find out what hubs your trailer uses and can point you in the right direction for a replacement... view full answer...
I was unable to find exactly what size spindle comes on your M116A3 trailer so you are going to need to remove one of your hubs to measure the spindle and determine if the Hub/Drum # 8-201-9UC3-EZ will fit your trailer. I have included an image showing the measurement points for the spindle and you will need to ensure your landing for the grease seal is 2.215" in diameter. The space for the inner bearing should be 1.75" and the outer bearing should be 1.25" in diameter. If you come up with... view full answer...
