The Thule OutWay # TH45JV is a fit for your 2014 Chevy Volt. There is a next to zero chance of the rack breaking the rear window on the vehicle. Most of the weight is on the lower leg and top cables which should not be hooked to the glass.

Place top clips in the gap at the front edge of the top of the trunk, hatch or door.
