I spoke with my contact at Thule and she stated that you can add a 2 bike trunk mount bike rack to your 2005 Toyota Solara. That does include the Thule Passage 2, # TH910XT, that you have referenced. I have included a link to the installation instructions and a link to a video review of this bike rack for you.
The bike rack I recommend is the Thule OutWay, # TH45JV. This is one of Thules newest bike racks. What makes this rack stand out among other racks is the 2 rubber coated straps it... view full answer...
The Swagman XC 2-Bike Rack Platform Style for 1-1/4" and 2" Trailer Hitches # S64650 you asked from or the Swagman XTC-2 # S64670 you asked about do not allow for 4 bikes with an expansion. Instead you will want the Swagman XTC4 4-Bike Rack for 2" Hitches - Platform Style # S64665. The 4 bike options require a 2 inch receiver and I've linked the page to all your options so you can compare and contrast if desired.
If you want a bike rack that is expandable so you can use individually... view full answer...
The Hollywood Racks Baja 3 Bike Rack Carrier, part # HRB3, is a confirmed fit for your 2008 Toyota Solera Convertible and will fit with most factory spoilers. The Baja 3 can carry up to 3 bikes (35 lbs per bike), but you will want to consult your owner's manual to make sure that your Solera can handle that kind of weight.
This bike rack does not come with security features, so to help deter theft of your bikes I recommend using the Cable Lock, part # e98891, and the Thule Passive Security... view full answer...
The Thule Gateway Pro part # TH88VR is a confirmed fit for your 2003 Toyota Solara convertible. This Thule rack offers a bit more adjustability than many others and the position of the arms is going to be a great fit for you. I highly recommend this carrier and attached a video for you to check out. The weight limit on this rack is 35 pounds so you will need to determine the weight of your cruiser bike. If it weighs more than 35 pounds, we can look for another solution. Check out the... view full answer...
The Curt multipurpose ball mount # D210 will work for towing the 2008 Toyota Solara on a tow dolly while using the top receiver portion to carry the bikes on a bike rack. The total tongue weight capacity of this ball mount is 750 pounds. The tongue weight of the tow dolly and the bikes/bike rack will not exceed 750 pounds so it will work.
But I have to tell you that only certain bike racks are rated for use at the back of an RV. None of the Thule racks are rated for this. I have included... view full answer...
You are right on the money with your comparison between a hanging style and platform style bike rack. However, another fallback of a hanging style bike rack is if you have any bikes with an alternative frame like most women's bikes then you will need to use an adapter bar to keep them level which will increase the overall price of your setup. The platform style bike rack will also be able to accept a much larger selection of bikes like those that weigh over 35 lbs.
Therefore, I recommend... view full answer...
The # 119176KIT hard-wire kit is a universal application, but it would be the correct choice to wire your 2007 Toyota Solara SE for towing. I have linked the installation instructions, but they are not going to be specific to your vehicle.
To install the hard-wire kit on your vehicle, you would use the included circuit tester to test the wires behind your vehicle tail lights for function. I would have a friend sit in the front and press the brake pedal or engage the turn signals as you... view full answer...
This is a fairly common problem when fitting a new trailer hitch on an older vehicle. Over time, your vehicles frame, in this case your 2006 Toyota Solara, will attract dirt, salt, road grime, etc. These materials will clog up the bolt holes in your cars frame and harden, causing rust and corrosion.
This is an easy fix with a wire brush such as the Deka Battery Post and Terminal Cleaner # DW00254 and spray lubricant. I have provided a link to our FAQ page on cleaning weld nuts to assist... view full answer...
Vehicles and the hitches designed to fit them may offer different capacities. And availability of a hitch for any given vehicle does not necessarily mean that vehicle can tow a trailer; hitches may be offered simply to enable use of bike racks and other hitch-mount accessories.
The 1-1/4-inch Curt hitch # C12110 that you referenced is a correct fit for your 2004 Toyota Solara and comes complete with required hardware for bolt-on installation. You will need the # C45522 ball mount, hitch... view full answer...
I recommend using a wired backup camera on your 2008 Toyota Solara, the Hopkins Rear View Camera part # HM60195VA or Rear View Safety Backup Camera System part # RVS-778718N. The main difference is the monitor, the former has a windshield mount monitor and the latter has a rear view mirror mount monitor. The rear view mirror mount monitor takes up much less space so if you have it in the budget, this is what I recommend. view full answer...
We do offer a Tow Ready # 119178KIT that would be compatible with both vehicles, however it isn't a plug an play harness. None of our vendors offer a plug and play wiring option for either of your vehicles.
The installation really isn't too difficult. You would need to access the rear of the taillight assemblies as if you were changing a burned out light bulb. The wiring harness kits include a circuit tester. You'd begin on the driver's side. Ground the tester to the vehicle body, and... view full answer...
Draw-Tite part # 36336 does not include the manufacturer recommended ballmount, part # 36061. The only other pieces you would need are the trailer ball, the pin and clip or lock for securing the ball mount into the receiver and the wiring harness for your 1999 Solara.
You would need to hardwire your vehicle with a wiring harness using part # 119178KIT.
The ball mount recommended for your hitch uses a 3/4 inch ball shank diameter hole, so you will need to select a ball with that size... view full answer...
For your 2008 Toyota Solara the hitch to use for a bike rack is the Curt hitch part # C12110 which is a confirmed fit. I'd recommend finding one near you with a good reputation and letting them install it.
The most popular bike rack we carry that has been confirmed to fit this vehicle is the Thule Camber 2 part # TH9058. We asked our demo and install guys to name their favorite, most easy-to-use bike racks and this one showed up in nearly everyone's top three. Check out the review video... view full answer...

For your 2007 Toyota Solara with a naked roof we have the Inno Roof Rack part numbers # INB127, # INSUT, # INJK, and # INK709 which is a confirmed fit that would work well. This is our only option for your vehicle, but Inno makes great racks so this will be a great setup. view full answer...
While you can fit some Thule and Yakima accessories, like the Thule FastRide # TH95JV or Yakima ForkLift # Y02098, around the crossbars of the Malone MicroSport LowBed Trailer # MPG464-LB, the closest you will be able to get those crossbars is 44" which is well over the max crossbar spread length of the majority of accessories.
An alternative option that would allow you to fit practically any accessory is the Yakima Rack and Roll Trailer # Y08107. This has 78" long crossbars which are... view full answer...
According to the manufacturer, the Curt Trailer Hitch # C12110 will only fit the 2004-2008 models of the Toyota Solara. While the frame of a 2007 Lexus SC430 may be similar, we cannot confirm that it will fit. It is possible that it could be made to fit with some degree of modification, but that is not something we can recommend doing. I am sorry to say that there is no custom fit hitch available for a 2007 Lexus SC430, so unless you have something fabricated to fit, this car really cannot... view full answer...
We do have a hitch that fits your 2008 Toyota Solara with the Curt part # C12110 but the # C11000 does not fit your vehicle. From the top of the receiver opening down to the ground is about 12-1/4 inches. I attached a picture that shows it's relative location with the rear bumper.
I also attached an install video that shows how it installs on a 2008 Toyota Solara just like yours. view full answer...
